Story:Wal-Mart starts Christmas “Star Wars” sales – Boston Herald
Honestly, why not have Christmas year round now? it would make as much sense.
The more I think about it (and Walmart wants me to start thinking about it right now), the more I’m ready to dump Christmas altogether. Or at least the only part of it that matters to Walmart.
Oh please. It’s not like they are putting out all their Christmas decorations and holding a Black Friday event. They are extending the dates for their layaway program (which they and most other stores used to offer year-round) which happens to be called their “Holiday Layaway” program because when they stopped offering it year-round they needed a reason to restrict the program to only a few months a year.
Since Disney - not Wal Mart - decided that this month was going to be when they would release the third generation of the historically-hottest-toys-ever, Wal Mart was like “how can we get these toys into the hands of more people? Extend layaway!” and business was done.
But whatever.
It’s not even September yet and at least one grocery chain has the Halloween candy out.
I have friends on FB who started the countdown to Halloween weeks ago.
I have seriously considered blocking their posts.
I think we should. Then people would be nicer to each other. All you Christmas Haters can go back to North Korea.
I, for one, won’t believe it’s Christmastime until after I’ve heard someone complaining that people say “happy holidays” these days because Obama ordered them to or something.
The local Dollar General Market has had Halloween candy out for over a week now. Several FB friends have started a Christmas countdown already.
@Smapti: I’ll say “Happy Holidays” to you any time you want, including right now. Happy Holidays!!!
Somebody else will have to grouse that Obama did it; that’s not my schtick.
None too soon for me. Can’t wait for the radio stations to do their part.
