Thank you, thank you, thank you all!! I had a nice, low-key celebration: mac-n-cheese for dinner (didn’t feel like cooking or going out to get anything) and I baked some brownies (mmmmm, chocolate!!) My faithful canine is crashed on the floor behind me, and the kid is out with her bf. I got a check from my MIL in a silly card, and 3 of my sibs sent greetings.
I do appreciate all the birthday wishes. Just take a moment to mark your calendars for next year when I hit the big 5-0. I’ll be expecting adulation and awe-filled tributes.
Happy birthday, FairyChatMom, one of my favorite posters (if I haven’t mentioned that before, I rectify it now)!
As a gift I bestow upon you my 2001st post, marking my entry into my next millennium of SDMB membership. I kinda feel we share a special personal holiday.
Approximate Phonetic Chinese Version of “Happy Birthday”: (thanks, Nathan!)
“Guung juuk nay fook sow yuen teen tsai, hing hong nay sun sun fie lok. Leen leen doe yao gum yut, suuy doe yao gum jzew, guung hay nay! Guung hay nay!!!”
Approximate English Translation of Above:
“Congrats on this good day of fortune, where we can all gather together. Wishing you a very happy birthday. Every year, this wondrous day arrives; Always, this wondrous time comes. Congratulations! Congratulations!”
I hope the rest of your birthday absolutely rocks, and here’s to the very best for you this year!
Again, I thank you all for your good wishes! Dopers are da bestest! And Rue gets and extra smoooooch for starting this thread - made me feel just like a birthday princess!
So, who’s gonna sweep up the confetti and gather the crumpled party hats?!?
I can vouch for him!!! She’s nestled in a box on the counter, which I promised to take to the post office and haven’t done yet!! I’ll make him do it this weekend!
May your weekend be filled with lots of love and birthday dinners that you didn’t have to cook and all that stuff. Whatever you want, that’s what you should have. You deserve it.
I came in all late (see what ya get for workin’ all day?) so I’ll help do all the cleaning up. As long as I can take home some leftover birthday brownies…
Hattay burtttay! --as the kids would say it-- and many more.
