It's finally happening: McDonald's is going to all day breakfast

And yet, I love them. They should just stick to their core products. Their specialty crap I could do without. I don’t go to McD’s for specialty burgers. I go for the mainstays. Well, that and the $2 jalapeno double burger they’ve had on-and-off for the past few months.

I dunno. The last time I ate there, the food was dry, rubbery, and tasteless. Why would I eat at McD’s when I can get flavorful options at places like Five Guys or Smashburger for not much more money?

Oh, I like both those places fine, too. But there are none near enough to me (I need to drive about five miles or so to get to one). And they are significantly more expensive. And when I want a McDonald’s burger, I want a McDonald’s burger, just in the same way when people want Taco Bell (which I personally hate, except for recently discovering that I actually do enjoy the ghost pepper griller) they need a Taco Bell and nothing else will do.

Yeah: McDonald’s is close enough to eat during lunch at work. The other places aren’t.

I asked today about the burgers in the morning. Nope.

I said that I wished they offered Burgers, Cheeseburgers, and maybe Bic Mac’s all day. She agreed(she was the owner of the franchise), but I guess does not control that part.

Their coffee isn’t bad, now that it’s served at subvolcanic temperatures. Maybe try to cut in on the Starbucks action?

My main coffee choices tend to be Tim Horntons, McDonald’s, Dunkin, and Starbucks. I’d rank their basic coffees as:

1. McDonald’s - yeah, it’s the best now. My local place still does $1 for all sizes. Yes!
2. Tim Horntons - Nice, but they rarely give deals.
3. Dunkin - has some great promotions sometimes and worth it.
4. Starbucks - I don’t actually go here almost ever. It’s only acceptable.

If I could get a Sausage McMuffin at any time, that’d be awesome. They’re only a dollar - I very often have one for a quick breakfast on the go.

Last week I bought an Egg McMuffin around 2 p.m. and it tasted – different. Probably because they’re using the same grill for the eggs as the hamburgers.

I had a hashbrown today with my burger, and it tasted distinctly like fish.:dubious:

I pulled into my local McD’s at 12:15 in the P.M. and got a sausage mcmuffin and an order of fries. It wasn’t late in the day, but it was nice not to worry about missing the old 10:30 cutoff. Mmmmm. McRonald’s sausage patty.

From what I saw the new menu is basically all the things that are just as easy to pop in a toaster or microwave at home, which makes sense. I am fortunate to not “have” to eat out for lunch, but the biscuit stuff would be more attractive to me.

Looks like the biscuit region extends into south-western PA (YAY!) but I can’t tell if it’ll be as far as Allegheny county. Here’s hoping. (I love those bacon egg and cheese biscuits!)

I bet this is to offset the cost of needing new equipment to accommodate all day breakfast

Not much more? I think the equivalent meal at either Five Guys or Smashburger works out to being about twice the price as at McD’s.

So I did it.

I have one of those Community School Fundraiser cards where I can buy one, get one free on a Big Mac, & right now there is 2 Egg McMuffins for $3.50- sooooo Sunday after church, I got two BMc’s & 2 EMcM (1 CanBacon, 1 Sausage) & a Quarter Pounder.

Soon as I got home, I put the Can Bacon EMcM & the QP together.
Ohhhh yes.
Late that night, the Ssg EMcM & a BMc.
Yep! Just as good!

Late afternoon Monday, I had the last BMc by itself.

Then of course I had to promise all my FB friends & family that this was not going to be a weekly habit. But boy, was it tempting today when I finished my fasting blood test.

What Big Norse said. McDona’ds has gone from being a restaurant… to being a KIDS restaurant… to being a sort of rapid dispensal food depot that sells largely tasteless food and preformed nuggets of fried pink slime.

McDonald’s franchisees say the company’s all-day breakfast launch has been a nightmare.

The new menu is slowing down service, reducing average ticket costs, and causing chaos in the kitchens, franchisees told Nomura analyst Mark Kalinowski in a new survey.

Looks like Corporate is clueless.

In an email to franchisees, McDonald’s US President Mike Andres called the all-day breakfast launch a success.

“The successful launch of All Day Breakfast proves that when we listen to and respond to our customers and align around a great execution plan, we will grow our business and take share,” Andres said, according to Bloomberg.
