It's hot!

and my PC locks up in hot weather!

Sounds like you need another fan or two.

Let’s hear it for pizzabrat! Yaaaaaaay!

Oh, not that kind of fan.

Let’s see, nobody seems to have yet supplied the obligatory Pit thread response scolding the OP and pooh-poohing his/her cause of complaint, so allow me.

Suck it up, crybaby! Here in Jaipur it’s now over 40 degrees C everyday, and it’s going to be over 50 in May! And we don’t have air-conditioning, either! You think you’ve got something to whine about? Ha!

(Hmm, I didn’t know PCs locked up when it got hot, though it doesn’t surprise me, any more than any other PC malfunction tendency would surprise me (temporarily exiled Mac user here, canya tell?). That could explain why this p.o.s. computer keeps crashing on me.)

Oh, boo-hoo. I just fried my CPU while trying to clean the dust off the damn heat sink. So, thanks to my own stupidity I have to go buy a new CPU and heat sink instead of a couple fans.

Of course, I should point out that it was in no way my fault I fried the CPU - no, it was poor heat sink design. Or maybe poor CPU design - I mean, why can’t they run cooler?? Or the weather. It’s been getting hotter around here!!

Not my fault at all.
Damn idiot, I knew I needed more thermal paste

Pop the case open, point a fan directly at the interior of the computer. Presto.

Kimstu: Yup, heat causes problems for computers. Your computer’s CPU probably has a little fan on it; the video card might as well. People who really “soup up” their computers find they have to install extra fans sometimes. IIRC, a lot of computer server rooms are kept at a constant cool temperature as well.

Can’t 'cha just rig up an ice water drip directly on to the processor?
As for making CPUs run cooler: Man, I used to have a 286 that didn’t even need a fan! Great machine, too. It could run…uh…BASIC I think…

Ah. There is nothing like working in a nice cool server room. The gentle white noise from the humming with the coolness is awesome. When they finally make me king, I will see to it that all developers can work in a similar environment.

Nothing a few Vantec Tornados won’t take care of.
