It's hot

Waitaminute, Lamar, you’re in Denver? Can’t you just get in your car and drive up into the mountains and find relief? (maybe you can’t and I’m let them eat cake-ing you). Here in the DC area, or the south or midwest, there’s no place to run, no place to hide; all we can hope for is a thunderstorm. :frowning:

Hallboy has spent the past month with his grandfather in Sapulpa. (To you non-Okies, Sapulpa is a hop, skip and jump from pinkfreud.) When I ask him how things are going, his first response has always, without fail, been “Hot”.

Coming back to Pennsylvania next week will seem like Nirvana, even though we’re fighting 90’s.

Midwest weather is always wonky, and you’d figure I’ve lived here all 22 years of my life I’d be used to it.

Nope.

We had some really hot days early in spring. Then it got cold. It snowed on my one-year anniversary weekend trip with my boyfriend in mid-April. Then it got nice. Then hot. Then nice. Then it rained and flooded a lot. Then it stayed unseasonably nice, and I got hopeful it wouldn’t be the usual disgusting summer. Then it rained a lot again. Now it’s nasty hot, just in time for my birthday. Poo. It’s gonna be upper 90s/100 for as long as the weather people can predict. Gotta find some indoors activities this weekend! My hair + midwest heat/humidity = disaster. Hopefully by August 23 it won’t be so hot, I have Cardinals tickets for a 3pm game

It’s hot down here, too.

I hate it. Is it October yet? (Sometimes we even get a cool front in late September.)

We get a full 4 months of winter here, where it’s -10 to -30 C all the time. Bookend that with a few months of spring and fall, and we really only get 3 months of summer. I want it to be hot for 3 months: stinking hot. 'Cause in a couple of months we’re back into fall and winter again.

Looking at 87° and sticky in NYC today. I will wear my white suit, just to offer a thumb in the eye of the grimy, dark-clad workaday city.

Then I will wash my thumb.

3 months of summer is PLENTY. 4 months of winter is not quite enough.

Just IMO of course, which I realize is drastically skewed from the norm.
