It's Kitten Season!

Magayuk, you rock. I am in awe of your coolness.

Kalhoun, do get two! Two kittens are actually less work than one, in my opinion - the only thing that can keep up with a kitten is another kitten. When you’ve got a pair to entertain each other, they seem far less likely to entertain themselves by shredding the sofa or pulling used tampons out of the trash (“look what I found, Mom!”). Plus, it’s even more entertainment. I’m not sure we even turned on the television between six weeks and nine months - it was way more fun to just sit in the living room and play “chase the crumpled up magazine reply card”.

ENugent, we already have two cats, and one is an insane 2 1/2 year old, so there will definitely be lots of action! We’d like four, but I also like to keep that last slot open for strays in need. We really can’t be good parents if we have more than four.

I don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep tonight!

My adopted kitten is Spike (former stray as a tiny kitten- had to be fostered until old enough for adoption). He is a riot, and the most pampered and catered to cat ever. Feel free to use the name.

Nice job with the kitten rescue!

Excellent save, thank you!

And for those in need, this site has low cost and even free spay and neuter clinics for cats. listed by state:

Magayuk I want to have your child. That is all.

Very well done, Magayuk. Stories like that tell me that there really is such a thing as human altruism.

To echo (echo echo) Jeff Olsen and missbunny, though, and to add a level of doubt, is it not only possible that “Evil Guy” did not throw the kittens in there (thus making his “Then they gonna git drowned” statement not a threat but a statement of inevitability,) but also that perhaps he was unwilling to risk his own neck to do it, but felt bad enough about the kittens that he called someone who he felt might be more qualified to rescue the kittens without killing himself?

I’m just not convinced that “Evil Guy” was evil at all.

Magayuk, you are totally amazing. That was an awesome thing for you to do. Animal cruelty just makes no sense. Every animal has the right to be treated decently. Some people see any creature that is not human as being inferior, but they aren’t. Every animal is a living, breathing life that needs to be treaded with kindness and respect. You did a very good thing.

This little exchange:

leads me to believe he did have something to do with the kittens’ location.

Magayuk, I agree with what all the posters have said, you’re wonderful!

The guy on the phone sounded pretty dumb. I was going to say maybe he was just some poor old drunk, not too terribly articulate and trying to explain that the kittens were already in the water and needed rescuing, til I got to the part about “I don’t got them at home no more”.

What an idiot, and YAY you!

ok, I must be the most cynical/paranoid bastard posting here… when first reading the OP all I could think was, “This poster is getting setup for a mugging/beating”

While I’m also an animal lover (I definately would have been on my way to try to save those little purring mewing cuties), I would have also have had a few large friends on the way also, just in case.

All paranoia aside… Good work man, I’m glad there are people like you in the world. (I’d include some misc animal rescue stories from my past, but that might detract from what the original poster did.)

Thank you!

You’re both wrong; it’s baseball season!

You’re a good person, Magayuk.

I’m going to second that thought too. You’ve got some big balls my man. I sure as hell wouldn’t go up to a 250+ pound guy and tell him he has a problem with his dogs!! You are quite a unique individual. Well done. My best wishes to you and your litter!
