LUNCH TIME!!!
Busy and productive morning. Sad lack of chocolate in my lunch bag - probably because I didn’t pack any. But there were Oreos in the snack cabinet, so I bought me a pack.

Bathed, fed and in my comfy chair. Will have to take out the trash and get dressed to go pay the water bill, but otherwise all is well.
Well, that’s it for skool for the year. Test went OK, but it could have been better; it was one where 100% was an actual possibility, but I made a couple of (pretty minor) errors.
The downer of the day though is the Christmas card I just got from my Aunt, who’s always thrown a big family party on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas, which is pretty much Christmas pt 2 here, for anyone who don’t know), it had ‘Hopefully see you Boxing Day!’ then underneath, in a different pen ‘I won’t see you, [uncle] is ill’. I knew he’d had some health stuff going on lately, but I didn’t know it was serious enough for her to cancel an annual tradition of 40+ years, several weeks in advance
Blurf Irking. Been pretty busy so far. I only have a few more things to do and I can call the end/first of the month done.
We are back to the ENT tomorrow to see what the results are from the CT scan of sinuses. It is an all day trip. Then weekend.
I now have bifocals. The eye doc called a couple of hours ago to let me know my glasses were ready and I could come in anytime to get ‘em. So, I put on goin’ about the public clothes as opposed to sweatshirt and sweatpants and went and got 'em. I know I’ll get more and more use to them but, dang, the part that lets me see up close is REAL up close!
In other news, soups are done and smell and taste yummerific! Yes I tasted both soups. I think we’ll sup upon some of each today and tomorrow. The rest will get frozen for later consumption. I like havin’ stuff like soups and stew in da freezer. I’m thinkin’ I’ll make some chili tomorrow for the weekend plus some for da freezer.
: looks at forecast :
: puts out NO SNOW signs :
We’re threatened with a mix of rain and snow overnight Friday into Saturday. We shall see…
Poke roast is almost done. Crinkle cut fries, corn, and apple sauce for sides - a fairly pale meal!
We are getting into the 60’s. Brrrr.
Got most of my board of directors stuff done, went to the hospital and sprung Mom after 36 total hours in the joint.
As far as they can tell there’s nothing wrong with her at all. No evidence of stroke, no evidence of heart attack. Yes, she’s got some AFIB and flaky blood pressure. She’s 92 ferchissakes; that stuff is par for the course. And she’s getting forgetful.
I bet what really happened is that she was in her apartment, fainted and fell or fell and fainted. Or just fell. She landed badly on her left arm & shoulder. A bit later she comes to her senses, forgets or never recorded that she fell, and goes to bed feeling shaken up. Next day she’s sore all over, sleeps it off. The next next day she decides it must have been a stroke, tells us that story, tells the nurse that story and cue 911, paramedics, hospital, and all the rest.
Just like w 4 year olds, the line between reality, inaccurate memory truthfully reported, and dreams or confabulation is pretty blurred.
Or she knows darn well she fell and is not wanting to admit that, so decided to admit something else. Lying to care givers to get the outcome she thinks she wants is not new behavior; it goes back decades. She lives in independent living now and is in mortal fear of assisted living with the greater intrusive monitoring. She knows that being classified as a “fall risk” is the quickest ticket to the other wing of the complex. It’s not a happy reality, but it is a reality.
Anyhow, she’s home, happy, and sleeping it off some more. We’ll figure out how to handle the injured shoulder tomorrow. Yaay Mom. Frau PanzerTank rolls on undisturbed.
For decompression after Mom we went down to the beach, got a late lunch, then a 45 minute walk in the gathering twilight. Aaaah!
Time for a vino and some football. Dinner will be light snacks late.
Yeah. A nice upper 70s today and low 70s overnight tonight but they’re advertising overnight lows in the low 50s for the weekend with highs in the mid 60s.
Break out the mukluks & parkas. We need a shivering smilie.
Howdy Y’all! The soups are so amazinly’ goooooooooooooood! The perfect meal on a cold evenin’. The northern part of Jawja is threatened with a mix of snow and sleet/freezin’ rain. Thus the “NO SNOW” signs are out. OYKW says I look scholarly in my glasses. HAH! I’m just as dumb as ever.
S’OK to look all scholar-like. Jus’ don go soundin’ all Poindexter-like. That’d be bad.
Seriously, congrats on being able to see up close again. It’s a welcome improvement.
**swampy **- you need to ask Santa for a tweed jacket with elbow patches to complete your scholarly look. It’ll be interesting with jammy pants!
Here to report that after a resting period the washer is once again re washing my clothes. Really did not want to buy a new washer since hubby has settled on his new service vehicle. It has a Knaphiede -sic- body and all the bells and whistles with a price tag of nearly $49K.:smack: a tax shelter I guess. It is not a done deal yet and you can bet he will hear my ideas on the longggggggg Drive to almost Miami.
Just happy my washer will at least finish this load.
Got up at o-dark-thirty this morning to take Wifey to the hospital to get another bionic knee installed. She had one of them done 5 years ago and decided this would be a good time to do t’other. I just got home and am inhaling leftover pizza. I’ll go back and get her tomorrow morning. Tonight I am without adult supervision, except for the dogs.
I’ve only had a martini once in my entire life. It was good, but it wasn’t made by a bartender. I run more to margaritas, moscow mules, and bloody marys, myself.
Rosies sig to all, and to all a good night!
Mooooom, I cut my apple up at my desk, but when I set up an engineering exercise for the heathen children using toothpicks and apple chunks, I gave them a quick bath in lemon juice. Twenty four hours later, they were still pretty enough that the kids snacked on about as many of them as they built with.
Welcome to the club swampy. I’ve been in bi or tri focals now for nearly 35 years. It will seem perfectly natural shortly.
The company fed us today. Ham, smoked turkey, mashed sweet taters, green beans, cornbread, cold drinks and dessert. I wanted a nap this afternoon.
The bathroom and kitchen are cleaned, the week’s menus done and the grocery list made. The big meal this weekend will be poke chops smothered in apples and onions with a side of sriracha green beans. Saturday, I’ll take Nelson to the dog park, then to the groomer. Sunday will be heathenization.
Slacker. I had bifocals in second grade. I now use the Hubble repair kit.
Weenie. I am myopic, I merely remove my glasses to have superior vision close up. Your petty bifocals do not work if one has to tilt one’s head to turn on a device some moron did not power initiate under his desk.
You are weird.
As far as eyesight is conserned, I needed glasses the day I hit 40. The exact day. Or my arms were not long enough. I forwent the bi focals and went straight to progressives which means one is dizzy and takes giant steps especially until one gets accomplished at wearing that. Now, I feel nekkid w/o my spectacles. I am bad about leaving the house some days without so I keep extra pairs in purse, car, desk drawer. Getting aged ain’t for sissies.
Did you forget to plug in your chair? :o
What? You’re chair isn’t electric? Would you like us to buy you one for Christmas/Hanukkah/Boxing Day/Kwanza?
Okay fellow Mumpers, who’s chipping in to buy an electric chair for flytrap?
