JimmyCrest I may carry on about the heat and humidity of Summer down heah in south Jawja but I am thankful for the relatively warmish all year round weather. Mind you, it gets cold, but not icy, snowy cold though a little of that can happen every few years. I am a Summer baby, so bring on Summer! I love it.
All purtified for a little trek into town in a bit. Aside from havin’ N.O.L. at the good Chinese place, OYKW has a couple errands he wants to run so we shall do all that. ‘Tis a cool but sunny day out, so a good day to go do some runnin’ around.
Feeling rather grumpy about the job today- got paid a pittance for last week, and I still don’t know when/where I’m working tonight… I was assured there would be some work (unlike last week), and my boss said he’d get back to me when he had confirmation, but it’s after 3.30 now, and I still haven’t heard anything
I should get on with some crafting, or do something useful, but I don’t want to get into something only to get called away.
Back from errandin’ and N.O.L. Both of us brought back half or our N.O.L. The good Chinese place is generous with their portions! OYKW had beef with broccoli and I had my usual swipe the General’s N.O.L. We both et the soup (aig drop, yum!) and aigroll that comes with everything.
I went back to bed and actually slept about 90 minutes this morning. Higglet snuggled next to her daddy and Taz climbed on me, while Ziva sat in the bathroom sink. One of these things is not like the others…
After we got up, we went to the cafe in Leonardtown for breakfast. Once we got home, I did 2 loads of sheets and cleaned my studio Then I finished a few pots and loaded what I have into the kiln - barely 1/3 of a load. I’m going to make a few things for FCD to try airbrushing - some completely unglazed, some with underglaze. We’ll see if we can work together to make some artsy-fartsy stuff. He’s way better than I am with the painting artsy-fartsy-ing, and I’m better than he is with clay.
In fact, he just finished painting one of the motorcycle helmets with a giant eyeball. Some time back, he did one with a brain, but he sanded that one out. It was really cool - I’m hoping he’ll do it again. I think he could sell those.
Temps have clawed their way into the low 50s. My sheets are on the line getting lots of fresh air. I may go back downstairs and throw a few pots. No gardening today, tho. I’ll stay inside.
I wish we had a good Chinese place near us - even the not-terrible one has slipped in quality of late. On the other hand, we have several good Messican places, so there’s that. Oh, and I’d love a good Eyetalian restaurant - Olive Garden ain’t it!
Dammit, now 6pm, and still heard nuttin’ from the boss about work tonight. Looks like another week of living on rice 'n beans assumes position of woe.
Well, ok, I won’t be, because I do have savings available, I just shouldn’t be having to dip into them when I’m working. There is more work around soon- fixtures, not vague events. I’m definitely looking for another job now though… was hoping to leave it for at least a few months so it doesn’t look like I’m job hopping too much.
It’s the Middle of the Day on a weekend.
You folks should be doing something exciting, like making French Toast.
* I* am reading and doing aquarium maintenance.
We have no pendin’ disasters on the way so I’ve had no reason to run to the sto’ for emergency French toast makin’s.
Nice, lazy, pleasant afternoon here in swampland. I will crank up the outdoor cooker in a couple of hours to commence the low county boil. Until it’s chill and relaxate time.
A little while ago, my Rugrat texted me a picture of a wall hanging he saw at the antique mall where he moonlights, and it was of a single tulip. The image of a single tulip has a very strong association with my mother, and I realized she died 13 years ago today. VunderKind and I decided that he was meant to find it today.
No, I’m not soliciting any hugs over this. Gropes, on the other hand, will be greatly appreciated. ;)
Home from the wilds of Waldork! It was a successful venture - the first and only shoes my sweetie tried fit, were comfy, and were bought. YAY! We got lucky, too - as we were waiting in line (a single line that fed 4 registers) suddenly there were 8 folks behind us. Is today National Buy Shoes day?? Anyway, in and out in under 30 minutes, which is great. **FCD **sometimes has a tough time finding shoes that fit well and feel good. Fortunately, today wasn’t one of those days.
Now I need to think up something for supper. PB&J? hmmmmmmmmm
