I have a friend who has a little diamond stud in her nose. It’s small, and discreet as anything can be that’s in the middle of one’s face…but I’m a little startled every time I see it. I know it’s supposed to be decorative, but to me it looks like a pimple…a zit…a pustule about to erupt! Is it just me, or do other men react this way, too? (On the INside…I certainly would never say anything. She’s a friend, after all.)
Where do women get the idea that that’s attractive, anyway?
I suspect it may be in part an artifact of our advanced age, Geezer. In our formative years, our society was much less accepting of these things. One of my closest friends is in her early 20s, and loves body piercings. She doesn’t realize she’s giving me waay TMI when she blithely shares the detail of some of the ones that are hidden by her bikini. But I love her for who she is, and after all, she overlooks my growing senility, so I figure it all works out.
I’m not a fan of the whole body piercings thing. I don’t mind a bellybutton piercing (even when they do it at home with a pin, against everyone’s advice, and then it got infected  ), but they don’t really do anything for me. Nose/tongue/lip… no way, I don’t like them. Eyebrow? Looks better on a guy. Ears? 2 or 3 is cool, maybe one in the lobe and/or 2 in the upper part, yeah, that’s sexy. Then again, none at all is cute too.
I’ve only ever thought nose piercings look nice on some traditional (Indian?) women where the gold stud contrasts beautifully with the skin, and links to one of those fine gold chains that hang sort of across the face. I think they do it for weddings and stuff.
However they do not look nice on pasty teenagers whose noses are already encrusted with enough acne-jewels of their own.
