As many of you know, I’ve talked repeatedly about moving to Chicago.
It’s becoming reality.
I have found a roommate, and I hope to be in Chicago no later than 6/1/03.
I’ll be living in Bucktown, close to the intersection of Western and Milwaukee.
The job situation should sort itself out once I get there. I hope.
I’m getting stoked. I LOVE Chicago. I can’t wait.
Cool beans, Superdude . Drop me a line when you get into town!
Congrats on becoming an official ChiDoper and finding a roomie, and Good Luck on the job search.
Hey! My kid lives in that neighborhood (sort of). I think he’s at North and Western? What kind of work do you do?
At this point, Kalhoun , just about anything. I’m a stand-up comic by nature, but I’m going to take a day job while I try to establish myself up there.
That’s fine, if you’re into that sort of thing. Talk to your local Dopers…
Have fun! Good luck! Break a leg and all that.
I visited there once for a few days, a few years ago. I’ve been thinking of relocating also. So tell me, Superdude, why do you like it so much?
You know, notcynical , it’s strage. I HATE cold weather. But Chicago’s just the place where I’ve felt more “home” than anywhere else, including Louisville, KY, where I’ve lived all 30 of my years on Earth.
Oh, and they have the Chicago Cubs.
I know they have the Cubs. I wanted to know why you liked Chicago.
Okay, one of two things is going on:
Either you’re pissy about my Cubs taking 2 out of 3 from your beloved Mets, or
You’re on Steionbrenner’s payroll.
Either way, I win.
What can I say? Regarding 1), the truth hurts.
My kid’s a waiter. Chicago is a big food town. You should be able to find something in the way of employment. Good luck! It’s a great city!
