Well, all I know is that the Phelps/WBC press releases have some pretty…interesting?..cartoons on them. At least they did when they sent the release to the office I used to work in, notifying us that they were planning on picketing us, along with a local church that dared-DARED-open its doors and allow a GLBT Christian church to use the building. A drawing of the boss on a crapper, what a wonderful piece of…artwork? Oh, and that, too, was in South Dakota. Kinda makes me wish they could afford plane tickets, and go visit a little further away.
God, family car trips were bad enough with my family, I wonder what a Phelps family trip is like? Hundreds of miles, and not one stop at a public rest area.

We have a local “self-proclaimed anabaptist” minister who pretty much shut down a local gay bar. I have word that he’s helping Phelps spread the hate. This man protests anything, Kenny Rogers and Anne Murray for crying out loud!
He is an ex-cop, so he’s good and doing just enough to provoke a reaction. Then the one or ones who react get the court date! At the height of the “protest” he had a local police chief run the license plates of the patrons, then call out their names as they walked into the bar. They would even get the names of those who drove rental cars! He even had a local doctor give him patient histories so he knew who had AIDS!

Y’know, I think at some point, this will all boil over. All this insanity is simple to spread, go to small town America, stir the pot, and protest something that the locals don’t even truly understand. Bah. Phelps and the rest are nincompoops of the highest order. I think they’d have a harder time passing that bullshite off in S.F. or N.Y. or Chicago (think non-nascar cities).
But if Phred ever does stop by the Windy City, I’d libe obliged to show him my bullet collection. Hell, I may even give him a few for the trip back home.

What does Phelps gain from all this? To be quite frank with you, there’s very little you can do convince me that this isn’t all monetarily motivated. I firmly believe that, next to self-preservation, money is the ultimate motivator. I don’t buy for one minute this ‘saving souls’ bullshit from him.

Conventional wisdom in Topeka (where Phred lives) is that there is no money trail, and that he and his church are financed by his kids, several of who are lawyers and/or work for the State.
Why not? It would have the added benefit of being a lifestyle befitting of protest. The way he has infected his family with hate and drags them around the country to do his bidding. Pretty damned dysfunctional.

I think you’re onto something, Guinastasia! If we don’t pay attention to Fred, he’ll have to do something more outrageous, hopefully crossing the line of legality at sometime. If not that, then he’ll be forced to scream and rant louder and louder, hopefully popping a blood vessel in that piece of cauliflower between his ears.
