It's so windy.... fill in the blank

It so windy that pumpkins were rolling across the pumpkin field. I had to share this odd one.

There were also trees across the roads and lots of branches, but that you’ve seen before.

It was so windy on the beach today that the gulls and geese took off into the wind and landed behind themselves. The only way they could move forward was by foot.

With 21 ft waves, they weren’t planning on paddling anywhere soon.

It’s so windy that I saw a street sign blowing down the street like it was a sheet of paper.

That was back during Hurricane Gloria.

I was once in a tandem kayak on a windy day. We paddled and paddled and paddled – just to stay even with the dock.

We’ve only had two trees down across the driveway so far. But supposedly the worst is yet to come…

Let me know when you see one without feathers.

Got a video?

No. I wish I had a modern video recorder available. I barely made it to the truck leaning into the wind carrying pumpkins. I got out of there when the pumpkins were starting to move.

It is so windy it sucks because tonight is garbage night. If I put it out, it could wind up 2 states over by morning. I have chases the trash cans around several times today.

Good advice even when there’s no wind.

Agreed.

We were amused because our neighbors to the west put up an ostentatious “No Trespassing” sign on one of their trees when they bought the property a year ago. No one ever goes in their field, they were just being crabby. Last night their sign had blown down onto our property. I wanted to call them and complain that their sign was trespassing.

I haven’t lost the trash can yet, on a windy day, but there have been days when I’ve had to go out looking for the trash can lid. I was thinking of somehow attaching it to the trash can with a bungee cord…gosh, that must be the most boring post I’ve ever made here. So I’ll offer this tidbit from “At Home” by Bill Bryson. He writes about a ferocious storm in Scotland, in the 1800’s when the wind blew the sod off of a hill to reveal a whole ancient village, 5,000 years old, houses made of stone. And surprisingly sophisticated, with locking doors, elemental plumbing, and built in storage spaces.

One of the big trees in the courtyard of my building is swaying so much it’s hitting the roof, which is 4 floors up, right over my living room. I guess I should let the manager know. It can’t be good for the masonry.

Another branch from the same tree scratches occasionally at my bedroom window when winds are high. I keep having flashbacks of Poltergeist and wondering if the tree is going to reach in during the night and take me away…

Geese without feathers are typically in my oven around the end of November. But I found another on the beach, and I named him Woody Allen.

It’s so windy the barge didn’t unload and now the grocery store is out of bread, milk, eggs, and fresh vegetables.
