Seeing that Congress has awarded Bush the go-ahead to make war at his discretion without any need for an actual war declaration and without necessarily consulting Congress, the sig is pretty much on target.
Unlike its owner, whose accuracy is comparable to the Administration’s Anti-Missile Defense System.
And yet another thread from Stoid devoid of factual information about an American president. I guess you learned exactly nothing from that debacle about the Prez & Pearl Harbor.
Okay, I see it now, I think. However, that only adds another interpretation.
What you’re saying it says is that it’s Congress that has granted power which will “Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion…and you allow him to make war at pleasure.”
My reading of it was that it was the public was the group giving permission, even if only tacitly. Seems that may still be true, though. Yet another question of context.
Where’d that thing come from Stoid? What’s the story behind it?
I see. No conservative bullshit. Our apologies. We’ll try to give you something up to the standards of the OP.
To the tune of “Jimmy Crack corn”:
The Democrats raise taxes and they don’t care
The Dems raise taxes, they just don’t care
The Dems raise taxes they just don’t care
My money’s going away.
They thought the Ponzi scheme of social security would fly
They perpetuate poverty with welfare. I don’t know why.
I wish you tax raising Democrat scum would just die.
You’re turning this country into a pig sty!
The Democrats raise taxes and they don’t care
The Dems raise taxes, they just don’t care
The Dems raise taxes they just don’t care
Oh, and since we’re engaging in the high standards of liberal discourse, how about a second verse?
The Democrats raise taxes and they don’t care
The Dems raise taxes, they just don’t care
The Dems raise taxes they just don’t care
My money’s going away.
They sodomize their interns and then they lie
Tried to screw the country with that commie healthplan from Hill- a - ry
Pander to special interests, but hate you and I
Why don’t you Democrats just fuck off and die?
The Democrats raise taxes and they don’t care
The Dems raise taxes, they just don’t care
The Dems raise taxes they just don’t care
hold on to your hats here as I say a word about Stoid.
I think we treat her just about as unfairly as we sometimes treat His4Ever.
Word on the street is that Stoid is a democrat. I believe that very often she goes over the top in her posts about how a Republican government will surely bring about a bloody and fire ridden apocolypse fraught with naught but tears and gnashing of teeth.
But she DOES have a sense of humor, and I think sometimes she does post these things in a light hearted manner not necessarily in vehement hatred, and a lot of her staunch rivals take it as a moment to stab her once again (and yes, I know she’s made her bed and has to lie in it). Sometimes we just have to let things go and say “oh, it’s a republicans suck thread, not my bag”.
Yes, it would be nice if she would take equal time to poke fun at dems or green parties or communists or penguin lusters, unfortunately she doesn’t. And I realize that to some (including me, I’ll admit) it feels like a daily frying pan to the head regarding her hatred of republicans…
But I also feel that sometimes people just see the name Stoid and get all their hackles up.
For Christ’s sake folks, it’s christmas…let the gal sing a song or whatever.
Well, there’s good old Tom Harkin. You can check his record yourself over at www.vote-smart.org His congressional voting record going all the way back to 1992 is there. You’ll see over these ten years an overwhelming number of votes: a) in favor new taxes, b) in favor of increasing or extending existing taxes, and c) against cutting, or eliminating taxes.
Here’s some examples from just the previous few years There’s plenty more:
2002 - Voted for an “economic stimulus package” that would extend several expiring federal taxes. Also voted against permanent repeal of the estate tax.
2001 - voted against a tax cut reconciliation that would reduce income taxes, also voted against the 2002 budget resolution which would have cut federal taxes
2000 - voted against a previous estate tax repeal measure, also voted for a measure that would rescind $150 billion in tax cuts
1998 - Voted for killing an amendment that, if passed, would have allowed a $3300 increase in the standard deduction for couples earning less that $50,000, also Voted against an amendment expressing the sense of the Congress that the tax code should “sunset” by the end of 2001, also voted against an amendment that would have allowed Congress to consider repealing the federal gasoline tax, also voted against expanded eligibility for Roth IRA for senior citizens
And since the U.S. has experienced a wide range of economic fortunes through this decade, one must necessarily conclude that Harkin, regardless of the economic question, favors tax increases.
Hell, that was easy. I’ll bet I could find a shithousefull of liberal democrats that have voted much like Harkin.
Gosh, ** jarbaby, ** that was nice of you. Thanks! And a happy holidays to you!
(FTR: I do not “hate” anybody. That is a very strong and black emotion that I simply don’t experience. Not even towards Bush. There are other non-positive things I feel, but never hate. It’s just not in my repertoire of emotions. )
Scylla, you’re the Mallard Fillmore of the lyrics.
What, you can’t take a tweaking? Tough. Say, how’s your boy’s haircut?
And Stoid is wonderful, and well counselled to be teeth-gnashing about this ghastly administration. But hey, never mind everyone else’s problems, here – have a tax cut.
Hmm:
Ohh… If they’re checking Haliburton – bomb iraq!
If they’re checking Haliburton, bomb iraq!
If they’re drawing back the curtain,
And for the big man, jail seems certain,
If he’s hurting on Haliburton, bomb iraq!
Mallard Fillmore is a syndicated comic strip with a conservative slant. I don’t find it particularly witty or funny, myself, but I suppose that’s because I’m not a conservative. Or something like that.
