That is truly a rad coincidence. I’m so excited! Hazel, I’ll be at your place between 4 and 5. I’m just a very short walk away! Oh, and let me know if you want me to bring anything.
Hm, why can’t I see Millit’s post?
ETA: Never mind. That was weird.
Got the PM, Wife and I will probably park anywhere we can in the neighborhood so that I don’t have to move the car, and make your apartment building 4-ish or so.
I will be there if weather pemits the drive. Since we’ve been having major snowfalls every week or so it’s a little iffy.
Thanks for the info. Can someone give me a landmark to go by? How far north of Watertower am I going? I’ll find Lawrence off of LSD no problem, but how far west do I go, if at all? Answers, people, I want answers! (or PMs…).
I most likely will try to find a place to park on the street (ha!). I won’t be there by 4–I have to work that day. Probably 5 or meet you all at the restaurant.
Speaking of restaurant: what will the reservation be under, Cecil Adams? Just a thought…
That’s how the MADopers always do it. I thought it was just the way of it for all dopefests.
And parking… Is there a lot or a ramp anywhere near? The last time I visited some friends in Rogers Park I spent 45 minutes circling the neighborhood looking for an open space.
And will I have some goofy residential parking restrictions so I have to run out every couple of hours and move the car?
I should let **Hazel **answer for her street, but most of the parking regs in that area don’t apply on Saturdays. Generally I drive to school on Saturdays for just that reason. During the week, I take the train. For the Dopefest, I 'spect I’ll train in, just so’s I don’t have to worry about drinking too much.
Hazel, I’ll be at your place at 4, and I’ll ride the wave 'till I’m either bored or exhausted. Definitely up for dinner, and probably for The Green Mill after (which I’ve never been to, actually!)
I’ll be taking the El, so if anyone’s nervous about waiting at the El stop, We can just plan on leaving together.
Thanks, carlb. I don’t want to be overreacting, but this way I know I can reassure my roommate if she doesn’t want me to go and I don’t want to promise her I’ll take a cab.
I’m really looking forward to this! Cookies, seafood, jazz, drinks, dopers? Truly, it will be a night for memories.
My car seats more people than my living room so if there are rides to be given I am always up for that. It makes me feel better about its horrible gas mileage.
Awww, man, I wish I could be there too. We had so much fun in September!
GT
I’ll make the reservation under Cecil Adams.
You don’t have to go that far west of LSD. I think the first big street you’ll hit will be Sheridan, and then Broadway. Winthop is after Sheridan but before Broadway, if you’re coming from the east.
The parking shouldn’t be too bad. Actually, I vaguely remember - there is a parking lot next to the restaurant, and you can get a stamp or something that’s good for a couple hours. I can’t say for sure what parking will be like on my street, but my friends are usually able to find something within a few blocks’ radius. I should warn you though - Kenmore has permit parking (it’s the street a block east of Winthrop) so don’t park there unless you want a ticket.
Hazel, I got the PM - Thanks!
I’ll be there Saturday!
Damnit, I knew this was going to happen.
I have to bow out. Plans got majorly changed around for this weekend, and I won’t be able to make it.
Thanks anyway for putting this together. Maybe next time.
Sorry to hear you won’t be joining us. But there will definitely be a next time!
That’s too bad, carlb. But HazelNutCoffee is right, there’ll definitely be a next time. Hope you can make it then.
I have to bow out as well… I have an uncle that picked a particularly inconvenient time to buy the farm.
Shit.
Oh, Mr. Bus Guy, my condolences.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Mr. Bus Guy. And sorry we won’t see you.
