I irked today, & it was irksome as they didn’t give me a ‘fancy thinkin’ box’ so I couldn’t log on to anything or read anything, or see any of the systems. But it beats not irkin’, which is what I was doin’ previously, so all in all, Yay, me as I’m once again a contributing member of society!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88. I managed not to turn the AC on yestiddy. We’ll see what happens today. I so don’t want to turn it on yet.
Spidey yay for irk. Maybe today you’ll get a fancy thinkin’ box! I like that! HEE!
Rosie I have a feelin’ Smokey was thinkin’ more like, “Yeah, right! Call Merry Maids.”
picu will hubby get to supersize his meal at least?
Now I must obtain more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
And I’m up, having essentially slept thru the night - yay! I woke once to pee, then I heard **FCD **getting ready for work, but I couldn’t be bothered to wake all the way. I finally got up after I dreamed that my daughter and I were walking thru the countryside trying to get home and we encountered a boy who was planning to use corn dogs to bait bears. Not **swampy **bears but out-in-nature bears. In the dream, there was some discussion as to who she could contact to report the boy, then I woke up.
Today starts clear liquids only. No food till after my procedure tomorrow. I’m not worried about withering away, but I am concerned about headaches. If I don’t ingest protein on a reasonably regular basis, I get nasssssty headaches. I am allowed tylenol, so there’s that. I mixed up my clean-it-out juice last night and it’s in the fridge - supposedly that makes it more palatable. We’ll see. I get to start drinking it at 2. Yay.
So, breakfast is a cup of tea, followed by a lot of lemonade over the course of the day. I can’t tell you how excited I am. I can’t tell you because I’d be lying. Therefore, I shall switch my line of rambling. You’re welcome.
It’s 36° at the moment, meaning I won’t be futzing in the garden any time soon. I will empty then reload the dishwasher, run the vacuum, and, um, that’s probably it. I can start a new afghan so I have something to do on the long drive south, or I can keep it simple and just make dishcloths or hats. Maybe I’ll clean up my studio - it’s a dump at the moment. Or I could go back to bed…
Happy Tuesday!
Great mother of Og, it’s morning again. At least I’m looking down on the grass, instead of up at it.
Speaking of grass, the seed I put down in the front yard where the trees came down is coming up nicely. I’ll have to water it well just before we leave and hope it survives the week that we’re gone - with luck we’ll have a nice rain shower once or twice… Then I’ll get to mow it! Yay!
Yay, it’s Election Day in DC and Maryland. For this I get to go to work 4 hours early and be the standby guy in the satellite truck with one of my favorite young reporters Ken Molestina. Since everyone else will be busy doing election coverage, they need a crew to cover ‘whatever else’, which may also include breaking election coverage.
The chief photog came to my office last week and informed me of my mission, and to ask about my foot (I broke my left calcaneous bone / heel bone last May - it still hurts like hell). I still limp at times and I still take good drugs for it, though I am working my way off them. I have broken my left leg 3 times over 26 years, I know the drill.
I have to say I do enjoy my job and I mostly like to go there each day. I’ll take my bad days over most other people’s good days.
I hope I get motivated enough to pack a good lunch before I go.
So phouka, where’s the damn kitten pics? If you chose to frame the pic in their special warming place, that would be good too…
Were the kittehs a tad nippy?
I am at irk, and irked. I had to sit in on a plagiarism hearing this morning and the panel reached a decision that I don’t agree with. Unfortunately I am not part of the decision-making process but I end up feeling very bad on the student’s behalf as he is having a tough time and I think this is a very unfair decision.
Bah!
And I have to go to Fat Club tonight, which won’t be good.
Just made a reservation for Friday night in Lumberton, NC. We’re staying in the Motel 6 because it appears in Lumberton, there are few choices for pet-friendly rooms. As long as it’s clean and relatively quiet, it’ll work. Goodness know, we’ve stayed in our share of less-than-steller hotels before, back when we were really broke.
And the headache beginneth. I see a lot of cranky in my day. meh
FCM can you uptake the caffeine somehow? That might help.
**Tugig **- I’m only allowed clear liquids, and my caffeine is all cola-colored… I’ll survive. I’ll just whine a lot.
And for all you folks unfortunate enough *NOT *to be retired, this.
The next one sounds like Chimera’s former workplace.
Back in town after a trip to Austin to see Mr. Shoe’s cousin get married off. One of those pompous, overly-orchestrated affairs, but … the rest of the trip was great! (Ah, Austin… how I miss living in you.)
Overheard on the South Congress sidewalk: “Yeah, she’s not married to him anymore. She’s in an open relationship now.”
Before heading back, we shared a lovely lunch at a lakeside Mexican place. Food provided by Maudie’s Cafe; entertainment provided by the pair of older gentlemen at the table next to us. We eavesdropped merrily as, over several rounds of 12:30 p.m. tequila shots, they compared [del]penis[/del] boat sizes, and as one gave the other one a quick lesson in Spanish. (“That’s what Dos Equis means?” squints at beer “I always thought it meant ‘twenty.’ Huh.”)
Back at work now, plowing through Ye Olde Inbox. Yay.
I’m curious, what did the Spanish-speaking gentleman say Dos Equis means? It does mean “Twenty”, in a roundabout way: that beer was created to conmemorate the start of the 20th century (el siglo XX, Spanish uses Roman numerals for centuries), but it was so successful that the brewery made it a fixture. Several other Cuauhtemoc brands have similar stories, such as the Cerveza de Navidad (Christmas beer), which was supposed to be a one-shot but ended up being made every winter.
The visit to that brewery was one of the best parts of my first trip to Mexico
Time to play catch up!
Tugig, I really like the picture you posted the last MMP- your daughter is very pretty! As for you, betcha have to beat [del]Swampy[/del] your admirers off with a stick!

roo Yay for kittens! And boobs! Boo for incompetent phlebotomists!
Picu that place looks AMAZING. want
Swampy, would you expect anything less from this pack of miscreants?
Thanks once again for all your kind words. I am doing better this week, gotta get the house passed over * grin* So I will be (& have been!) busy doing that this week! Happy Tuesday all!
So it’s Tuesday, which is as good a time as any to check out the MMP, right?
Yanno, CatDude, since getting that new job, you’ve really been slacking on your responsibilities here. I can’t even remember how long it’s been since we got a Cuervo story! Sheesh…

As long as you’ve got your library card.
I got a grand total of 25 pavers put down yesterday. I have 155 more to go. I’m still totally lacking in motivation. I just want to spend the day snuggling with my dogs and staring at the wall.
No, you’d probably run screaming for the hills.
