Hm… turns out they’re the two weekends in the middle and at the end of finals for me… still doable, but I’ll have to wait until classes start next week and I find out my exam schedule before I can say for sure either way.
Jane… how quick a train ride are you talking about? Is it convenient?
Eonwe we are about two blocks from the train station. The train ride is about 20 minutes into downtown. To some it’s convenient, to some it’s a hassle. You may want to get some feed back from those who were at the 'fest last year and stayed at the hotels out here.
Superdude while nothing in life is a sure thing, I park in a spot next to a motorcycle. The bike has been parked there for the last two months and it has not been touched - I think someone from the hotel has parked it for the winter.
My plan is to have everyone at one hotel this year. It’s just easier to manage. And once I get a head count and an idea of the number of rooms needed, I’ll drop names into a rooming list and take any stragglers on a first come, first served basis.
Put me down for an ‘It’s hard to schedule that far in advance, but as far as I know I should be able to make it.’
Well, normally it takes three pages of discussion to even come up with a tentative date, so we’re already ahead of the game. Hell, I screwed up royally on the last one, since I initially proposed Easter weekend w/out knowing it was Easter weekend. I think it took weeks before anyone objected. I guess just the heathens were posting before that. 
Dammit, Kyla. Now I have TWO places to MUST-SEE outside of the “festivities.” That is, of course, providing that the invitations extended in this direction.
I didn’t make it out to Wrigley last year, but I think Gundy, Krusty Klown, and anyone else may also try and recruit jarbabyj into heading there this time. Wanna see Dusty’s inaugural Cubs season? You’re welcome to tag along…
Well, since it was brought up…
The Cubs are hosting the Cardinals that weekend. This means 2 things.
- The place will be packed, probably sold out.
- I will be there.
Seriously, I haven’t been to a major league baseball game in about ten years, and my favorite team is playing. I’ll be there. Just have to decide what day.
That weekend should be good for me.
As for a hotel room, well, I don’t really need a room, but if there’s going to be festivities at the hotel, I might get one just to be in the thick of things.
Well, luckily our (B and my) exams are the week before (literally. May 3-8), so we’re a tentative “Er, we hope so…”.
Transportation is another beast entirely…
Damn. That may be tough to pull off. We may have to resort to buying from scalpers (not that anyone should ever DO that…unless it’s a Cubs/Cards series. I think the cops look the other way then), or seeing if we can maybe arrange for a Chicago resident to try to pick up as many as possible.
I am going to try to make it. I would need a place to crash. I would also have to make sure I had cash. It is so very up in the air as to be in orbit, but I’m sorta starting to think about it. Which matters, but, you know, throwing my hat in the ring.

An 8 hour drive? I could do that in my sleep or something.
The only problems will be money-wise, time (because of school)-wise, and “Will my girlfriend let me go?” wise.
So I’m whipped. Sue me. And when you’re done, pencil me in.
