You know what? Let’s go. I’ve never done this one before, but the Secret Santa exchange is dear to my heart, and hell, I could use a new soft-boiled egg cup (my standard usage for a shot glass) so if it’s okay for a late-playing slacker to join in, I’d love to play.
ETA: this exchange is almost old enough to buy us all a shot apiece.
ETA II: when typing “shot” care must be taken to avoid the incorrect vowel, cuz dayum does that “i” change the meaning!

A few random notes:
You should not have the same person you received from or sent to the last two years. I don’t have notes going back farther than that. I did realize that last year I somehow paired a sender/recipient that had the same pairing as the year before that, for which I am deeply mortified. I’m determined that will not happen again.
With one exception, if you are sending international you are receiving international. Fair’s fair.
I stopped by my favorite tiny local Ye Olde Gift Shoppe, and when one of the very nice ladies there asked if I was looking for anything in particular, I mentioned that I needed a shot glass for an upcoming gift exchange.
Cue a bit of whispering behind the counter by the other staff, accompanied by the biggest, most genuine smile I’ve seen in a while.
“We just unpacked some new shot glasses a few hours ago. If you’d been here this morning, you would have missed them!”
“Well, good thing I took a nap!”
Now I just need to get a small box, and oh how fortuitous, tomorrow is “truck delivery” day at work and we’ll be swimming in boxes.

Yes indeed! When you send your package you post that you’ve done so, without posting who its going to – a silly but ultimately useless hint (“my parcel is in the hands of the woefully incompetent USPS and if all goes well will be arriving safely on the East Coast sometime before… oh, lets say Christmas, what with the mails these days”) is usually included, but certainly not mandatory.
When you recieve your package you post what you recieved and who it came from – without doxxing their real name, of course.
If you get burned and no package arrives let me know. We have several players willing and happy to send extra goodies to anyone who doesn’t get a parcel. It’s been a long while since that has happened, fortunately. Everyone seems to be quite honest.
Same. I have a couple of goodies I’ve collected just for this but I have yet to get a few more, including the all important shot glass. Mine should – emphasis on should – go out early next week.
