So yes please, think of me on my birthday. Because if this year is anything like past years, I’ll be too scatter-brained to remember that it’s my birthday when the time comes.
Theios: Too scatter-brained, eh? Well… my friend Dylan is infamous for not actually remembering his own birthday. He somehow forgets it’s his birthday on Feb. 5… it’s not that he WANTS to forget it, he just does every single year, and multiple times in a day.
On his birthday in 2002, his brother called him from Toronto… Dylan wondered why he was calling. His brother informed him that it was his birthday! Then his friends called him some time later to make dinner plans. Having already forgotten that it was his birthday, Dylan asked why the dinner plans. Yep… it was his birthday.
Then this year, he wondered what his mom was doing up so early cooking in the kitchen. He went to ask her, and got back: “It’s your birthday, son… and I’m making your favorite food.” Later on, he forgot his birthday once more… thus, he was surprised when he received birthday ecards from his ex Andrea and our friend Irene. Let’s just say that reminded him it was his birthday! (the birthday card I gave him earlier in the week should have reminded him of his own birthday, too)

Yep. That’s pretty much how it is with me too. The whole day is spent wondering why people are being so nice to me and having them remind me it’s my birthday.
The fun begins when I start getting confused as to how old I am. This year, my PalmPilot informs be that I’ll be 34. But, I’ve been saying I was almost 34 for a few months now. So when my birthday arrives, I’ll say I’m 35. People will disagree and I’ll get all confused. The last few years, my brain knows that it will get confused, and will start subtracting years to compensate. But it won’t remember if it has already compensated. So I end up telling people I am 33. Fun times! (thank God for the PDA)
Another May birthday checking in - I’ll be (gulp) 40 on the 15th! But since my 30s were rather difficult (divorce, surgeries etc.) I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.
My birthday is in September, but my best friend’s birthday is in May. Today, in fact. Wish him a happy 17th.
You can add me to that list as well. I’ll be 23 on May 20.
Woohoo! Marley23 and I share a birthday! Mine’s May 19 as well. I’m a bit older than he is though, going for “the big 4-0.”
