My father said it best: “Early to bed and early to rise… and you never meet any interesting people!”
I’ve also been suffering from a bout of insomnia. Due to that, I’ve been pushing myself to go to bed at 12:30am and waking up at 7:30am. I used to be able to go to bed at 2am without many problems but lately it’s been taking me about 30 minutes to an hour to fall asleep. Damn Daylight Savings Time! Totally screwed up my sleeping schedule. Don’t know why it affected me this badly this time…
Another nightowl here. I have the advantage that my job is from 2:30 to 10:30 pm. I can stay up all night and sleep in all morning. And I’m paid more for the “inconvenience” of doing this.
Depends on when my classes are, and if my prof boss wants me at his office at a certain time. I have to be up at least two hours before classtime to allow for commuting. Even if I had a 7:30am class, though, it probably wouldn’t stop me from staying up until 3am. I guess my bedtime really is “whenever”.
I usually go to bed at 10 AM.
I go to bed around 3 AM, and I’m up around 10 AM. I have class from 3.30 pm to 10 pm, so I’ve found my perfect schedule. I haven’t needed an alarm clock since I started this.
ARGH. I’m all messed up now. I went to Busch Gardens yesterday, and came home exhausted. I passed out at around 9PM and woke up, bright and alert, at 4:30AM. This is going to totally mess up my day.
Well, during the semester, I try to go to bed around 2AM. That is because I have, in the past, had classes start around 9:30. This semester, however, none of my classes start until around noon. So I’ll be going to be later.
During vacations (like right now with my summer one) I sometimes don’t even bother going to bed. Though, if I do, it’s not until maybe 6AM.
I generally go to bed between 11:00 pm and midnight to get up at 5:30 am, so I can be at work by 7:00 am. On the weekends I stay up till 1:00 or 2:00 am, and sleep till noon.
Great!
So now I’m thinking about Eve, in bed.
And I was supposed to get some work done today!
I find myself wanting/needing more and more sleep these days. Each weekday a.m. the alarm goes off at 5:20. General routine has me walking the dog and heading up to bed around 10, reading and lights out by 11 (unless I’m reading something really good, in which case I’ll pay the price the next day.) Sometimes I’ll actually hit the sack as early as 8:30-9.
On weekends, I wake up early on Sat. to golf. So Sun. is the only day I get to sleep late. Can’t remember the last time I slept past 8:30.
Last year my eldest needed an alarm clock to wake up for midddle school. She thought it was so neat that she had an alarm that would wake her up whenever she wanted. I got that on tape. We’ll see how wonderful she finds it after she’s been working a few years.
“Great! So now I’m thinking about Eve, in bed. And I was supposed to get some work done today!”
—Last night as I was going to bed I thought, “oop! Everyone knows what I’m doing just now!”
I love sleep. Sleep is my favorite hobby. I agree with Fran Lebowitz, who said, “Sleep is death without the responsibility.”
I go to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 pm. I’m up at 3:00am… to work at 4:30am.
My work day is over at noon. Half hour nap at about 3:00pm and I’m good to go all over again.
Makes the idea of resurrection much less appealing.
Ren, that’s fabulous!!! I had this quick flash of Jesus on Easter Sunday going “Mmmmmppphhhh…grrrrmmmmmpphhh…” and banging the snooze button on His alarm clock…
In bed around midnight to 1:00am each night, wake up at 7:15 and take my time getting to work by 8:30. Oddly enough, on my days off if nothing else wakes me up, I’ll sleep for almost exactly eight hours. If I go to sleep at 2:17am, I’ll wake up at 10:19am. Otherwise, six hours is generally enough for me.
[ralph] Sleep…Thats where I’m a Viking [/ralph]
During the summer I’m usually get to bed about 2:30-3:30am and get up around 11:30-12:30.
During school it’s more like bed around 1:00am and up at 6:30 for early morning classes. Last semester I didn’t have class untill 10:30. Sigh. Looks like thoses days are behind me for awhile.
I feel that I do my best work around midnight (writing and drawing wise) so that goes to explain my nightowlish habits (of course having a telescope makes things a bit worse :)). I function very well on little sleep, just as long as I don’t slow down.
Its Summer vacation so 4 to 4 is my rule. Next week It’ll be 11-6.
Night person here. Forced to be a morning person.
Left to my own devices I’d sleep from about 3AM to 11AM. It’s happened that way when opportunity presents.
Unfortunately I now live 1 hour from work and Mrs Chance is a software developer for a military contractor. That means she has to be at work by 7AM They wanted her in earlier but I told her, “Screw that. Honey, go pump gas for a living.”
So
Up at 4:30
Bed by 9:30
Chaos ensues when the Chancling (all 4 months of her) decides the pattern doesn’t fit her all-important wishes.
…whenever you’re ready, sweetie
Funny. I don’t remeber that line in Animal House.
I usually go to bed between 11 and 11:30. Up at the crack of mommajesus’ whip around 6:30.
Weekends are different. Usually the same bed time, but babyjesus, who won’t seem to get up before 7, is up by 5:30. Oh the joy of having a 3yo!
