When my aunt passed her cat was very old, in poor health, and so my cousin had the cat euthanized and cremated, and the little sack of the ashed went in the coffin with her. You could see the little bag if you knew where to look.
It has been almost two years since we had to send my dear friend Benji across the Rainbow Bridge. It is such a difficult call for the humans to make - just know that you are doing the right thing, and that there are thousands of us out there who completely understand how tough a decision this is.
And a big belly rub to Buddy, if he’s ever in the mood for one!
So sorry to hear about the death of any pet.Especially one that’s been a friend for a long time.
We finally did it and let Buddy go this morning. He actually improved a little bit, and he wasn’t in a whole lot of pain, but he had so much difficulty just living his little life having trouble lying down, not being able to find his water dish, and showing very little signs of joy. On the way to the vet this morning he wagged his little tail for the first time in a very long time and wanted to stick his head out the window. That was actually nice to see.
My heart is breaking for you and Buddy. You did the right thing, as you know. Doesn’t make it any easier. Big hugs to you.
Aw, Man. I’m so sorry.
I recently heard a line that was new to me: When you get a dog, you’ve bought a ticket to the worst day of your life.
Treasure all the memories…
I am sorry to read the news, but you are a good person and great friend to Buddy.
Someone shared this with me when I was going thru this (warning: water works ahead).
Waterworks indeed.
I am so sorry. But you both knew it was time. And it’s the only way we, and they, get the joy of their lives; and of ours.
It’s true. When we decided to keep him I knew it was going to end in tears. It was worth it.
I’m so sorry, but always remember the great times you had.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent,
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept 'em, the more do we grieve;
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long -
So why in - Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
I love that whole poem.
Odesio, you did the right thing even if it feels like it sucks now.
^This^
Buddy knows you did what was best for him.
I’m so sorry. No one understands the pain of losing a pet until they’ve gone through it. He will always be in your heart and memories.
