The only thing I’m guilty of in this thread is refusing to jump on the lynch mob bandwagon and insisting upon evidence rather than assumptions before deciding someone is guilty of a crime.
The fact that you don’t like the crime does not in any way justify jumping to conclusions about what happened.
The facts are that there is not a shred of evidence that Joe Paterno knowingly tried to cover up or diminish or disappear what McQueary told him; there’s not a shred of evidence that Joe Paterno knew of and looked the other way for years while Sandusky was raping and abusing kids on campus; and a close look at the specifics shows that Sandusky most likely is not guilty of the anal rape that everyone is so eager to convict him of.
It doesn’t matter how many other crimes Sandusky committed, and it doesn’t matter that in the McQueary incident he may have up to something skeevy. What matters, if we’re going to condemn him for rape in that particular instance, is that he be actually guilty of rape in that particular instance.
I couldn’t care less about any negative opinions that accrue to me for insisting upon due process and evidence before we condemn Joe Paterno for the many vile accusations that have come his way in this thread, or before we convict someone in the court of public opinion of a rape that evidence does not support simply because we’re outraged and we want to.
You can take it to the bank that I’m far more disgusted with you and your ilk in this thread than you ever will be of me, and if other people around the board choose to think like you and Huerta and Guin and the crackpots in this thread, their good esteem is of absolutely no value to me and I’m well rid of them.

ETA: Joe Paterno, at the very least, minimized the crime by waiting a day to report it to Curley and Schultz. If he couldn’t get hold of his supervisors immediately, he should have called the police and delivered the report himself, as the law requires an immediate report to be made.

I personally am shocked by the mob mentality here which has rushed to judgment on Starving Artist without due process, logic or reason. For all we know he really does have extensive evidence and public support for his position and you’re all jumping to conclusions based on the fact that he just hasn’t demonstrated any of it yet. I mean, the thread is only 50+ pages long - give the man some time.
If the Penn State Board hadn’t blindly caved in to the mob after only two and a half years of investigation we wouldn’t be in this mess - surely we can give SA a little more time than that to make sure that justice is done properly.
