It's Tuesday at noon and I want a beer

Not just a beer but a beer with a big steak and sauted veggies.

Luckily there is no beer in the house at the moment, I prefer not to drink during working hours but sheesh if there was one I would be enjoying the heck out of it.

mmmm, a steak sounds awesome!

Any body else up for a beer?

But I know a stranger that would be better suited to buy one for ya…

-SS

Damn Techie… even I have never drank a beer at noon! Your quite the lush arn’t you?

I will have to urge you to go for the steak however.

Whammo - look at it the way I do - it’s noon SOMEWHERE. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tech - I’d be thrilled to have a beer with you! I woulda had a beer with you three hours ago.

Heck Whammo, I am

These habits are learned from my father…especially on Sundays – football. Shoot, when we go to a game up in Denver we are drinking beer around 11:00 am, go eat the arrive at the game with a happy buzz and full belly of real food.

When it’s party time there are no rules. I love a bloody mary with breakfast while on vacation or on the occasional brunch with my AOL roomies. Then there’s the mimosa’s with a fabulously expensive brunch buffet with the family or friends.

But a beer just sounds good right now.

The only problem with daytime drinking is that once the buzz wears down, it’s only around 3 or 4 in the afternoon–then you’re only tired and grumpy… and still with work to be done.

Yet, on the weekends…
Sunday mimosas (can’t wait until blood oranges are back in season so I can make mimosas with them again)
When I used to work at the Renaissance Faires, the drinking basically started first thing… we always had our “breakfast rum”

Dammit, techie. I’ve got school tonight… and now I’m craving a nice, cold one, just like you. See what a corrupting influence you are!

Missy, let’s go!!! Of course I don’t have any at my disposal…I need to make a run to the store. I need to go to the grocery store later so maybe about 4:00 my time we can raise a drink for the sake of drinking at that time!

Java, sorry hun. Never gone to class with a buzz eh? Tehe, we’d skip our afternoon classes go smoke some KGB and drink. Occasionally we’d go up the canyon and commune with nature. It didn’t matter is was a pathetic excuse for a computer class and computer lab was boring. I did my entire assignment from home in one night. But this was back in the late 80s – community college no doubt.

Geez, Techie, I wish you were closer because I always want a beer at Tuesday at noon.

And as far as you “no drinks before noon” people - psha! You know it’s gonna be a good day if you’re having your first drink before noon. SO and I make it a point on vacations to always make sure to have our first beer pre-noon. Otherwise, it’s not a vacation.

Come to think of it, weekends should be like that, too. As should weekdays.

I can’t drink with you, techie (I’m all sobered up now) but I’ve been craving a steak for a couple days now. A nice medium-rare thick cut, with mushrooms . . .

Damn. This bagel I’m eating is just pissing me off now. How dare it not taste like a grilled steak!

Thanks to StoryTyler over on Fathom I am now also craving a burrito.

An over stuffed burrito smoothered with green chile, sour cream and guacamole.

MMMMM tomatoes, lettuce, refried beans, cheese, onions…

And a beer.
< no I am not PMSing and no I am not pregnant I just have weird cravings that will fluctuate throughout the day >

Well, I just got back from lunch in midtown Manhattan. I had two beers, along with a big beef brisket on rye with mustard and a half-sour pickle and a garlic pickle.

If I had known you were having a craving, I would have dedicated one of those beers to you. And a pickle.

Now I’m tired and grumpy. Heigh-ho for the Pit!

Marcie and I had steaks last night. I cooked 'em. Nice thick ribeye steaks they were. The night before, we had strip steaks. Big, thick, Angus strip steaks. I cooked them, too. Marcie had mushrooms with hers, I opted for straight beef. We had a nice California Burgundy with our steaks but beer is good, too. Tonight I think we will have steak again but we haven’t settled on what kind yet. I will cook 'em, though. Maybe we will have beer with 'em, whatever Marcie wants is okay with me.

All depends on what else you’ve been doing.

On one occasion, having had to pull an all-nighter at work, I went home, popped open a bottle of beer, poured myself a double bourbon, and sat down on the patio to drink them at 0800. Of course, one could make the argument that for me, it wasn’t 0800, but 3200. I didn’t however; when confronted by a horrified mother-in-law (who lives next door[sup]1[/sup]) who exclaimed, “You’re drinking at eight in the morning?”, I calmly replied, “Best time”.

Of course, techchick68, I hope that being up all night is not the reason that you want a beer at noon. If it is, you have my sympathy.

[sup]1[/sup][sub]FTR, this was not my idea.[/sub]

Well, actually… last night was a session of my wine tasting class (hey, it’s culinary school, we gotta know how to drink wine). Usually they make us spit, like good little wine tasters, but last night they eased up on it because we were doing food & wine matches… what, wanna spit out your mouthful of chicken curry & Gewurtztraminer in front of everyone? After about 10 different wines, all of us had a pretty good buzz going. Now, that’s what a wine class is all about!

But, tonight is another class that I’ll need to be up & energized for, so no beer with lunch today.

I’m in Denver this week and I had a beer with lunch…and brisket, peppered turkey, kielbasa (sp?), pork ribs and beef ribs.

So there.

I think I’m in love with The County Line Smikehouse & Grill.

Uh…that’s Smokehouse

::sheesh::

techchick, I’m usually ready for a beer at noon, weekday or weekend. Once every one or two weeks, I go out to lunch on a weekday and have one, and the hell with the 3 p.m. headache (take some ibuprofen and a pint of ice water). I wonder what Europeans think of our reluctance to drink at lunch? When I was in Paris, obvious suit-and-tie office types at lunch were drinking Bordeaux with their filet mignons or quaffing Stella Artois with their charcuterie. It was kind of a relief to go ahead and drink at lunch if you wanted to without stressing about it.

Anyway, yes, I’m up for a beer. I just discovered a BBQ joint here in San Jose that serves Warsteiner on tap, my fave beer. I’ll dedicate the next one to you. Go ahead and have a brew!
