iTunes Remote

Here’s my setup: I’ve got iTunes on my desktop iMac upstairs and two Airport Expresses hooked up to stereos downstairs. I can control the iTunes with the Remote app on my iPhone and broadcast music upstairs and downstairs. I would also like to control the iTunes on my iMac with the MacBook in my bedroom. I’ve looked for programs and widgets to do this but am coming up empty. Does anybody know of a program or configuration that can do this?

NOTE: I can access my iMac library on my MacBook and play it on the MacBook - this is not the issue. I want to control my iMac remotely with my MacBook.

About screen sharing

With Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) you can connect to another computer on your network and display that computer’s screen on your computer. You can access the other computer as if it was the computer you were using. While you share the computer’s screen, you control everything that happens on that computer, such as opening documents or applications; opening, moving, or closing windows; and even shutting off the computer.

10.5: A number of ways to access Screen Sharing

OS X 10.5 includes a very handy Screen Sharing application for controlling remote Macs. It is invoked via iChat’s Share Screen feature, as well as a Share Screen’ button on locally-discovered Macs in the Finder. But, if you’re like me, 90% of the time I just want to enter the IP address of the machine to control and be on my way. Luckily, the Screen Sharing program is able to run independently, and will ask for the IP to control upon launch.

with 10.6, you can set sharing to wake a sleeping computer.

Please note that your roomate might not like it much when you sneakily swap out their Shakuhachi flute music for ‘Jesus Built My Hotrod’.
