itunes won't instal on computer

Trying to get my new ipod touch to work. My old ipod was working fine. The new itouch would not sych so I tried to reinstall itunes.

I try to install itunes and it looks like it is going to install all the way but at the very end an error message comes back and it then rollls back on installation. The error message is hresult 0x800736B3…
I tried a lot of the solutions i found on the internet including:

  1. uninstalling all apple componenets on my computer, deleting all temp files, cookies, and apple programs, and trying to reinstall (same thing happens)
  2. i have run registry cleanup software, disk cleanup/defragmenting software, turned on antivirus, tried it with antivirus turned off
  3. i have gone into command prrompt and typed in the reccommended code: fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\ (but it wont let me do it, and says the file or drive has been corrupted)

Any clues as to what is going on. Very frustrating. I want to play with my new toy.

Are you running 64 bit windows? If so you might try this.

It doesn’t sound like that is your problem, but it might be worth looking into just in case.

And, of course, make sure you’re installing the right version of iTunes in the first place. While most 32 bit software works on a 64 bit OS this isn’t true of the newer versions of iTunes; you need the specific version for your OS’s processor architecture.
