I lurk more than I post, so most people probably won’t have noticed but I figured I should make an announcement anyway.
I was originally known as JulKatBo, a name I never particularly liked and that was chosen more or less on the spur of the moment when the name I wanted when I registered was already taken. It was one of the suggestions my university gave me for my school email address and it struck me as somewhat silly, so it stuck in my mind and came to me when I needed a name.
As for the new name, I wanted something with a bit more personality and I’m a huge U2 fan. Macphisto’s my favourite of Bono’s alter egos from the 90s, but I also wanted to avoid the inevitable gender confusion that would arise if I chose the name of a male character. So Ms Macphisto it is.
Oh, and I guess I owe Mangetout an apology for depriving him of the opportunity to trot out his name change suggestions by not posting a thread before I changed my name.
That site “exceeded its bandwidth for today,” so I don’t know what it was. I thought of the weird horny poet Richard Burton played in the screen version of Terry Sothern’s Candy. He kept raving on about his “neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed” for Candy.
I remember what you posted on Canadope about wanting to change the name. And I also posted the name change in the “official record of name changes” thread before I even saw this one. So does that mean I win a terrific prize for my quirky memory?
Why not? I’m sure I’ll have time to come up with a medal or something by the next Vancouver Dopefest.
And I remember the oddest things too. Can’t remember what I’m supposed to be doing from day to day, but tell me something in passing and I’ll never forget it.
Yeah, I don’t know when the next Vancouver Dopefest will be. I mean, it’s not like we’re in Maryland and the surrounding area… those people seem to be having Dopefests all the time.
