I've downloaded codec programs- I still can't get the one I need

I downloaded Cole2K, CodekPack, ffdshow, and divx5 (I think)-

I need cood1199. The few sites google comes up with when searching for it don’t have it. Where do you go to download a specific codec by typing in the specific name in a search box, then downloading that one? Does such a site exist? It should!

:smack: I just realized that cood1199 is a wmplayer error message: it can’t play the file b/c of a certain codec.

The message reads
*
C00D1199: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

The file type is not supported by the Player. For a list of file types (formats) that are supported by Windows Media Player, see Supported file types.

The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.

The file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player. For example, you might have tried to drag a DVD file with a .vob extension from a DVD to the Windows Media Player icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking Open on the File menu.

You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again. *

What should I do?

BTW, these last two

aren’t the case.

The thing I’m downloading is an audio book, in CD quality (that quality is required for transfer to portable media devices). The site says the books require only version 9 of the player or up- I have 10.

Is it possible that you could link us to the file? If not, run the file through this program and it should tell you what codec you’ll need. If you’re feeling lazy or want to avoid things like this in the future, try playing it with this one.

Thanks, I’m coding it. BTW, the file is a wma, and MediaPlayer supports that, so the only option left apparently is

The file type is supported by the Player, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.

No, I can’t link to the file- it’s on a download site for members only.

-Thanks, I’m coding it.

:smack: I meant I’m trying what you said. God damn I f**king hate codecs, and the ads at the bottom only piss me off more cause of it ;). How bout this google- invent some ads that pick up on context, like ‘I HATE codecs.’

VLP works! It downloaded it, WMPlayer plays it. Thanks, Palooka.
