Windows Media Player

When I click on a streaming file for music from a website, an error message comes up and says you have encountered error c00d1197. Does anybody know how to fix that? I have tried to do the troubleshooting it gives me but it doesn’t work.

Did you follow the help on This Microsoft Page?

Are you sure the link is working? Is it just one link or all of them, on different sites?

Yes, I followed all of those directions. Other websites work and some of the links on the bobandtom.com website work but not all of them. This has never happened before

Could it be that you are issing a specific codec? What is the codec being used in those files?

I am not really good with computers, what is a codec and how do I find it?

A codec is a small bit of code that tells a program, like WMP, how to decode a media file so it will play on your computer. Normally, if WMP can’t find a codec for a file you want to play, it will automatically try to find your codec from Microsoft. If Microsoft doesn’t have the codec, you have to do web search, and try to find the codec out there. But your problem doesn’t sound like codec error; normally, if WMP doesn’t have a codec to play a file, it will give a “Can’t find Codec” error message.

You might want to try another program to play the music - Media Player Classic has been able to play a lot of files that Windows Media Player can’t seem to work with.
