I was first introduced to the wonders of the Straight Dope almost 20 years ago by a great friend. We 15 years old and working at summer camp. To pass the time when we weren’t on duty, we read every letter in the 3 Straight Dope books she had. What a blast. About 6 months ago, I stumbled upon the SDMB and have been lurking ever since. I decided it was time to take the plunge, so here I am.
