"I've had Ed Asner forever" - Misheard Commercials

Every time I see that asthma commercial I hear “I’ve had Ed Asner forever”. I thought it was just me but my boyfriend said he hears it the same way. It makes it a little chuckle worthy because it’s a big guy who looks a little like Ed Asner that says it.

Also, I just heard a commercial for collagen broth. I guess there could be a little collagen in some broths but broth made entirely of collagen sounds a bit icky. What? Oh, it’s College Inn broth.

So what commercials do you mishear? Or we could expand the scope of the thread to print as well, so how about ads you’ve misread?

Hey, that’s a serious complaint. The Ed Asner syndrome is often overlooked in medicine.

It’s been brought up on the Dope before, but the first thing I thought of was the drug called “Acifex”… pronounced “Ass Effects.”

(Incidentally, I couldn’t help but read your thread title in the tune of “Strawberry Fields Forever”…)

I’ve seen that commercial, but I’d beard it as “I’ve been Ed Asner forever” which is even stranger considering, as you pointed out, the guy’s resemblance to Ed Asner.

But Ed Asner doesn’t even *have *a beard.

You know that TV commercial that talks about the 4G network? I think it’s Sprint or something.

Anyway, every time - ORGY network. That’s what it sounds like.

Just misheard another one, “steam in the bag” vegetables became “semen the bag”.

My favorite is from a few years back where they were saying “minty mouthwash”, but it sounded like they were saying “Mickey Mouse watch”.
There was one they were playing the other day about some iphone device where I know their saying “app” but it still sounds like their saying “map”

Depending on which ad you were hearing, it might actually have been “map.”
One of AT&T’s competitors is playing parodies of the “There’s an app for that” iPhone commercials that say “There’s a map for that,” referring to their supposedly larger network coverage areas…

Actually, I believe there is a commercial out now for Verizon where they say, “There’s a map for that”, showing the map of the coverage between Verizon and AT&T. You may have heard the commercial correctly.

The one for Allstate, where at the end the guy says, “That’s Allstate’s stand”. Sometimes it sounds like he’s saying, “That’s Allstate, Stan.”

There used to be commercial for ABC News – I forget which news show but I think I would hear it during the later, midnighty-hours.

They were saying, “Now always on.” I swore they were were actually saying “Now, Paula Zahn,” and wonder why she never showed up!

If this guy is telling the truth about having “had Ed Asner forever” … maybe he does!
