I've had it. I QUIT!

Smoking, that is.

I’ve tried before. The time I came closest was when I used Zyban. I called the Dr., but he couldn’t see me for 2 weeks, and wouldn’t write the script without seeing me. Anyway, I found half of the last perscription for Zyban, I remember how to do it, (You take it for 2 weeks, smoking normaly, and then quit) so I started to start taking it today. That would make my Q-Date November 12th. Anyway, I am hoping that I can count on y’all for support, and when the big day aproaches, I’m gonna start asking for sponsors for each day. This time I AM going to do it.

I am not going to keep a counter in my sig, but I’ll post it time to time.
Days until I quit:14
Cigarettes left to smoke:280
Money to be spent on Cigs:$45.50
Extra life with Drain Bead: :D:D:D;)

Dave, I knew what this was about before I even clicked on the title. Good job!! Even though my “quit date” isn’t until Nov. 7th, I’m going to try to move it up to tomorrow. As it is now, I smoke two or three cigarettes A DAY. (That’s cutting back from an average of one and a half to two packs a day.) So tomorrow I’m going to try to go the whole day without. I’m pretty confident. Good luck, Dave! ICQ me for support anytime.

Good luck! I quit back in May, so I know how hard it can be. You absolutely have my support!

Go Dave!

That should be good luck to both of you!

Oh yeah, I have a bit of advice. The first cigarette you should stop smoking is the one you smoke right after you wake up. Try to go as long as you can before you have your first cigarette for the day. It’s working really well for me. Pretty soon, you won’t need a first cigarette for the day and you’ll be done. Easy. (Okay, not easy. But it’s a good strategy.)

Mmmmmm. Lexicon. (???)

Just wanted to reach out ant touch someone, but I don’t have your number, and I won’t be in IRC tonight.

Okay, Lexi. IRC is, ummm, getting kind of interesting. Just so you know.

(Sorry about that, Dave.) Oh yeah. I’m going to be at my mom’s house, like I am right now, for a while. So no ICQ. Or AIM. A while as in days or weeks. You can email me for support though. And I’ll be in IRC for a while everyday, I’m sure.

Dave, I don’t want to reply to you in my thread where you mentioned this, but I’m pulling for you. I was never a smoker of significant quantities, so I was able to quit cold turkey easily.

I realise what a horrible addiction smoking is, and I’m always glad when someone tries to kick it.

You have my support, friend.

It all comes down to will power anyway.
Some people have addictive personalities.
I guess the key to breaking any habit is changing its associations, though, so a patch could help.
But don’t kid yourself, you still need the willpower.
Good luck

Dave:

(Ignore those two.)

I’m here to offer my unwavering support.

Quitting smoking is one of the best thing you can do for yourself.

We’re pulling for you, Dave. Keep us posted.

Good luck, Dave. I would like to quit but I am not ready yet…I just feel vague yearnings to not be addicted, but nothing too strong.

I used to smoke a cig a week…now two packs a week. I’m still really a social smoker.

Enough about me! I know you’ll beat it!!

Wow Dave, that’s weird, I was just talking to my dad about quitting this afternoon (still is Sunday my time).

Good luck hun and I am there for you.

Kick that butt habit!

< I will need you when I set my quitting date >

Just here to offer support for you, Dave.

Both grandfathers smoked heavily for over 40 years. One got cancer (probably not related to smoking) twice and died the second time. The other smoked such that my mother developed asthma because of it. He died of pneumonia. Linked to smoking.

If you need help I’m an email or AOL IM away.

I wish you all luck quitten smoking.
You have everything to win.

You can do it, weirddave! You will get through it!

A few words of simple advice. Keep your mind and your hands busy. Eat whatever you feel will help (I recommend Ho-Ho’s). The weight will come off. And always keep mind that what you are feeling is temorary!

temporary,temporary,temporary,

I hate when I do that!

Dave…you have my support too! I’ve quit so many times I know how difficult it can be. Hang in there…I’m still trying to decide, do I put myself through the agony of quitting (again, the last time, I SWEAR) before the holidays, or in 2001?

aargh.
