I've Lost My Shower

In the golden years of SNL, Dan Aykroyd did a fake commercial Bass-O-Matic where he dropped a Bass in a blender. Cut to Gilda Radnor with milk (bass)mustache “Hey, that’s great Bass”.

Or maybe had you had to be there.

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I heard the nurse call my painkiller prescription into the pharmacy. When I got there, they didn’t have it, and the novocaine was starting to wear off. I couldn’t even talk well enough to give them my name, I had just held up my credit card and let them read it. And after I’d spent at least fifteen minutes standing there waiting, I showed them what I really thought–by drooling blood all over the counter. That’s what you get.

Actually, I’m pretty sure it was Laraine Newman.

The first dress fitting for Hell’s Wedding went well. They only had to cut off about eight inches from the hem, rather than the even foot I expected. Here is a picture of me looking incredibly goofy in aforementioned dress. I believe the look on my face can loosely be translated as “I’m sick of smiling and how did you manage to dress yourself if you can’t work a point-and-click camera?”

Her too

Linkety-link

Sadly enough, there is now a band out there calling themselves Bassomatic.
Real original guys.

I stand corrected.

Thanks for link, Bumbazine

Draelin, how you doin’?

Not a bad dress, Draelin, is it orange or red? Did the bride give you the ‘you’ll be able to wear it again’ talk? I have yet to attend a wedding where the bridesmaids’ dressess looked like anything but bridesmaid’s dresses. Yours, you could get away with, if you have a fancy ball coming up soon. I know I have three next week alone.

My goodness Taters, that must be some big vicodin. Everybody seems to have a good ol’ time when they take it, but I just get sleepy. I feel somehow cheated.

My Oreck used to plug up like that all the time, Puggy. It was the most expensive free vaccuum I ever received-- always in the shop. I calculated that over the next two years it would cost me the same as a new vaccuum, so I ditched it. I lurves my Eureka since it actually-- get this-- vaccuums stuff up!

I just found out that school starts, for teachers, on the 22nd, for kids on the 25th. We’re starting school on a thursday. What genius thought that’d be a good idea? It takes more than two days to deal with start-of-the-year chaos, especially when you have 2000 students on a campus built for 1000. Waiting the weekend is just going to make everybody more frantic. At least I’m not one of the ninety teachers who had to move to different rooms (knock on wood).

I forgot all about that SNL skit. I used to love SNL. The original one with the original cast.

Mr. Taters is talking almost normally now, but is going through serious meat withdrawal. We ended up having mac and cheese, Hawaiian rolls, and salad. The hubby didn’t eat any of the salad, but I was trying to make sure my daughter’s guest got her veggies. I love salad anyway.

The wedding dress doesn’t look too bad Draelin. At least it’s not some floofy, goofy, poofy dress that makes a woman’s behind look like she’s got some huge-ass balloon under there. My sister did it the smart way and we rented our bridesmaid dresses. They were actually very chic and simple. It was much appreciated. It cost me $45.00 to rent it. Much better than paying some ungodly amount of money for some stupid dress I’ll never wear again.

Well, my daughter wants to play WoW with her pal again.

No, swampy, I didn’t drop it in the bushes. I’m gonna go call it so I can find it. Before the battery dies.

Found it. It was in my McPants. Since I’ve become a manager, I’ve never washed my pants. But it’s OK. They get drycleaned by Aramark.

I’m at Mom’s - got here yesterday around 4:30 - the traffic on I-95 north was abominable. Anyway, shortly after I got here, I was in the pool. Mom’s got several of those floaty seat things that are like half a mesh bag hanging from a pool noodle. So my aunt and I floated in our mesh bags, then Mom came out and was skimming bugs out. Once I was sufficiently pruny, we got out.

Then we had dinner, then I got a haircut. Then we watched a stupid video (Speechless with Michael Keaton and Geena Davis - just ever-so-slightly predictable…) and then I went to bed. But my internal clock had me up before 5 this morning. So the household is asleep, but the dog and I are hanging out here while I surf. It’s way dark outside up here in the boonies.

My nephew will be coming over later with his new guitar and I’m supposed to teach him something. I brought my guitar and I was dinking with it last night, but it’s been a long time. And my fingers are ever-so-slightly arthritic, plus I need to trim my nails. However, I think I can manage showing him the basic chords in C and G, plus I’ll teach him how to tune the thing. He’s never impressed me as being particularly musical, but then, he pretty much ignores me anyway. This should be an interesting afternoon.

My sweetie doesn’t want to be in Palo Alto any more. He’s not having fun. But if all goes well, his satellite will arrive there around noon today, so he should be coming home tomorrow. Yay! Yesterday he had to have some on-site training because he’ll be working in an area with potential radioactivity issues. How fun is that??

That’s all I got. It’s way early and I need to forage to see what Mom has for breakfast. And take a shower. And dress. And stuff. So now you know all about my yesterday. Since I didn’t post yesterday and all…

I’ve been a busy bear today. I (meaning ACBG and me) cleaned my back porch. That entails taking all the chairs, plants and stuff off the porch then getting to use my pressure washer to wash down the walls and floor. Gettin’ to use the pressure washer is always fun. Anyways, I pressure washed all the chairs, tables and such so it’s all clean now. Also I (meaning just me) cleaned the pool and soon will be lounging in it. It’s a beautiful afternoon. Then I gotta finish packing and stuff cause I get to leave for a glorious week in Illinois tomorrow morning.

ACBG went and got us burgers and fries for lunch while I was cleaning the pool. Apparently he was craving a Whopper [sup]TM[/sup] (sorry donkey) cause that 's what he got.

Off to the pool! Happy Saturday y’all!

Looks like you weren’t a busy enough bear if he was still craving a whopper.

Heh.

Went dancing last night. Sore today. Good music, and Scary Girl wasn’t there. A nice night.

One of our best friends (Intellectual Husband) is getting married right now. I wish we were there. No, actually, I wish they’d had the good sense to get married in Toronto instead of Texas. It’s too hot in Texas. I’m glad they’ll be living here next year.

I’ve had insomnia for the last four or five days. Last night I fell asleep at six. I’m getting progressively crankier and less coordinated. Tonight I’m taking sleeping pills and conking out.

Back home again. Yay. I returned with some tomatoes from a man my mom had bought veggies from for ages. Plus I have several bags of cans and bottles - Mom forgot to put them out Friday night for recycling and they won’t collect again for 2 weeks. I was going to take mine to the convenience center tomorrow anyway, so I brought hers along. Plus I have a big bag of English ivy that we yanked up - I want to get it planted on my side hill - maybe tomorrow.

My youngest sister showed up with her dog - a greyhound. Max and Bernie got acquainted, barked and sniffed at each other, then ignored each other. I taught my nephew how to tune his guitar, how to do a few chords, and how to do a calypso strum. I left him some copied pages of basic guitar stuff - we’ll see how long he sticks with it. My fingertips are sore - it’s been years since I played…

It’s nice to be back in my own house. It’s quiet and cool and somewhat in need of cleaning, but that’ll wait till tomorrow. Tonight, it’s a video on TV then a quick shower and off to bed. My sweetie should be coming home as planned tomorrow - his satellite arrived safe and sound and they were getting ready to unload it last time he called me. So that’s good.

The cat missed me - he’s rubbing all over my legs. I expect he’ll be snuggling next to me come bedtime. It’s been a pretty good day.

FCM I’m glad your trip went well. Sometimes it’s fun to go and be with family. I know I love it when I go spend a weekend with my mom and sister. Since they live beside each other that’s a good thing. See, I sleep and eat at mom’s but I go party at sis’s. I can just wander back to mom’s along the path from sis’s to mom’s house and go to sleep when I’m through partyin’. A good setup (set up?). Plus, sis has a pool so in the summer when I go up I get to hang out at her pool and party. My brothers usually show up for a cookout (cook out?) or lunch while I’m there too. Mostly though, it’s visiting with mom and sissy. My sister and I are much closer to each other (age wise and emotionally) than we are to our brothers. Plus, it’s sis and I that make all the major family decisions. That’s kinda weird because we’re the younger sibs and usually it’s the older sibs that do such stuff but our brothers will do whatever (ok, that one’s like it should be) we say.

I’m all packed and ready to go tomorrow. We had bbq <snerk> butt <snerk> sammiches and french fries for supper. I personally peeled, sliced and fried the french fries myself. Hmmm… that’s twice today I’ve had french fries. Oh well, mine were better than the BK[sup]TM[/sup] ones.

Donkey ACBG may not get a “whopper” when he’s with me but believe you me he ain’t complained any.

I am itchy itchy itchy today. There is no reason, I got my hair cut yesterday, but had a bath last night. I moisturized. No bugs. I’m just itchy and scratchy, not like the cartoon though. I itch and then I scratch, so I’m covered in pink patches. Itchy itchy auuuuugggghhhh!

I may be going to Tucson monday, to see my mom. That is a very long boring drive and I really don’t know what we’d do besides sit around, since it’s hot and I’m poor. I know I have to get to mexico and pick up some stuff for my sister at the very least, and then I’ll bet my aunt would really like some tortillas from her favorite place… Yep, I’m going to Tucson.

Which do I want to do, clean the bathroom or mop the kitchen? I think I’ll just sit here and be itchy.

Well, we spent another day frolicking in the sun and water. We skiied, tubed and just paddled around. My hair is getting lighter by the day from all the sun and water and my skin is becoming more and more tan. My daughter’s friend had a great time and even tried to ski. She almost got up a couple of times, but didn’t quite make it. There were so many boats on the water that it was a little rough for skiing. So mainly we tubed. We caught some serious air on a couple of the waves.

I’m tired, but I need to fix din-din. Pork shoulder blade steaks, cheesy garlic mashed taters and sauteed asparagus. Should be good…if I can get the energy up to do it.

Well, I better hop to it.

I have done something bad to my bad knee. It won’t straighten. I am currently wearing an ice pack plus tensor bandage over it. In a minute I’m going to bed and seeing if it feels better tomorrow. Argh. I am terrified of it dislocating again. Argh.

In normal people English, I don’t think that this sentence would make any sense.
