I've never eaten s'mores.

And then we drink the beer and that makes us dronk.

That’s ok. I’ve eaten them many times and every time wondered why people bother. They’re not very good (at least as made at a campfire).

Here’s what I recommend: dump the chocolate and use peanut butter instead.

Either simply use peanut butter, marshamallow and graham crackers or break apart a Nutter Butter an put the two halves, cookie-side down, on the rocks around the fire to toast while toasting a marshmallow and then squish it all back together.

Far superior to any kind of smore I’ve made while camping.

I have never eaten them either:eek:

I have. You’re missing nothing.

Had you said Oreo’s I would have told you to get to a store.

Had 'em, didn’t like 'em. Or at least didn’t like having to clean up the gooey mess after each bite. You’re not missing much.

That’s exactly how I had them when I was a kid. Except we used a straightened hanger instead of a stick.

I’ve had them, and really, they’re not all they’re made out to be. The great thing about s’mores isn’t the chocolate, Graham cracker, and marshmallow themselves. The great thing about them is that when you’re eating them, you’re sitting around a campfire with a bunch of friends laughing and having a good time. Frankly, I’m not even really sure how they got established as the campfire food, since they’re really hard to make in a campfire, too: The marshmallow is natural enough, of course, but nobody’s ever come up with a good way to get the chocolate all melty using a campfire.

The Kelty sweets,
one buys in Kelty.
Melt in my hands
all melty-melty.

With apologies to Steve Martin, who was the inspiration for this little bit of doggerel. (As was Chronos in his post above, of course!:))

Quasi

My name is John, and I’m a s’mores virgin.

Maybe I had it wrong, but when I was growing up it was a girl thing. I was in Boy Scouts, and I can’t imagine us doing s’mores. And I’ve never been much into marshmallows, except roasted on the end of stick.

I’ve had two I think. One when I was a girl scout, meh. Once one my kid was a girl scout, meh.

I like toasted marshmallows, chocolate and used to lurvvvv me some graham crackers in milk. Altogether, not so much. YMMV.

I love smores, but I love them even more when they’re made with dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. They’re not quite so sticky-sweet that way.

I don’t know about Johnny, but I’d hate to find myself in a dark camping ground with a gang of S’mores eating bikers.

Scary!

You’re not missing much; very overrated.

Not worth the stickypalooza they cause.
mmm

You know, Abe, that’s 500 gallons per mile. You might want to consider a tune-up.

I haven’t eaten them either. I am not a fan of marshmallow, but I love chocolate covered graham crackers

Typical kid snack. Sweeter the better.

I havent eaten S’mores since college. Probably way too sweet for me now. As I age, I prefer simple deserts that aren’t too sweet. Like a unfrosted pudding cake. Don’t want or like the sugar glaze icing anymore. Thankfully my grocery sells them unfrosted.

The company is usually better than the S’mores.

I don’t eat them often anymore (damn Type II diabetes!) but a couple of times a year, when the group gets together for campouts, I do indulge.

Me either, nor am I interested. I’m more into salts than sweets. I’d rather BBQ a pickle and try that instead.

Now that you mention it, I do STR that the first time I heard of s’mores they were associated with Girl Scouts.

They make S’mores Pop-Tarts. Honestly. They’re great fresh from the toaster along with a tall, cold glass of milk.
