I just picked up three jars of J&D’s Bacon Salt on the cheap from woot. I didn’t realize until they arrived that they were low sodium. What I thought was weird, though, is that they are labeled 2.5 oz (54g). What am I missing here? 2.5oz is 71g (as evidenced by my regular jars).
I happen to have most of a gift box left here. Almost all of the remaining bottles – Original, Peppered, Cheddar, Applewood, Hickory, and Mesquite – are labeled 57g. Only the Natural variety says 71g.
I weighed an empty bottle and it was 24g. They’re 104g when full, so that’s 80g (2.8 oz.) of bacony goodness. Apparently you get slightly more than your money’s worth.
Agreed- I just got around to it today, but the contents of the bottles labeled 57g actually weighed 78.5g. I guess you can put whatever you want on labels these days.
More disturbingly, when I went to open the jars, two of the three were missing the cardboard/foil seal. My kids don’t admit to opening them, so I don’t know what to think.
hellpaso, if you’re checking in at all, could you let me know if all your bottles were sealed?
It would be interesting to see how much 71g weighs in their world. By the way, the low-sodium is actually tastier to me than the regular stuff. I’m not on any sort of sodium watch, these just happened to be what woot was selling.
