Jack and Coke to be sold together in cans soon (debut in Mexico later this year; expected in U.S. in '23)

“[Mike’s Hard Lemonade Co.] Mike’s Hard Lemonade Co. is a Canadian-owned beverage manufacturer based in the United States. The company produces a family of products based on its original Mike’s Hard Lemonade, first introduced in Canada in 1996, a mix of vodka, natural flavors and carbonated water. Mike’s entered the U.S. market on April 1, 1999, changing the beverage to a mixture of lemonade flavor and an unflavored malt liquorbase, due to differing tax and beverage laws.)”

At the time Washington still had State-run liquor stores which would have kept a vodka based product out of regular grocery stores.

The big problem with Mike’s is that it evaporates. Really hot day, you pick up a six-pack and crack one when you get home. Sit down at the computer and crack another while checking your email. Go to get another and there’s only one left. The empties are in the trash, but you don’t remember drinking them.

In Costa Rica at the all-inclusive we stayed at for 2 nights I saw Cuba Libres in a can. I baffled the gift shop clerk by taking a photo of it.

Mike’sis pure evil. Even in my hard drinking days, I couldn’t stomach more than one. The stuff just tastes putrid and its only purpose is to fuck you up real quick. It is just so disgustingly cloying. After drinking one, I feel like I need a quart of water to wash out the sugary film on the inside of my mouth. After a handful of experiences with Mike’s Hard, I decided a cheap pint of Seagram’s and some diet Sprite was a less shameful road to insobriety. Mike’s is just some nasty, nasty tongue-searing stuff. I’d rather have a Budweiser Lime-A-Rita over that, and that’s saying a lot, because that shit is nasty, too.

didn’t Budweiser have a caffeinated beer sometime ago?

jack-daniels country cocktails switched from being made with actual jack to being flavored malt coolers also

and due to people dying from alcohol overdoses they federally banned 4 Lyoko and any mix of alcohol and energy drinks because they found out that something in it turns off the receptor in your body that tells you youre drunk and stops you from drinking yourself to death

everytime they make a red bull in vodka in a bar they’re breaking fed law …

Oi, those Bud Lime-a-rita are damn brilliant on a hot day.

A couple of brands did. And if the caffeine is naturally occuring, like from coffee or tea, it’s permissible. Adding caffeine is not. Dumb rule but that’s the way it is.

The amount of caffeine in tea or coffee is naturally limited. A manufacturer can add any amount they want.
Though there are now some coffees that go way overboard.

bleh its not making previews

In Virginia the law has changed in 2021 to where ABC stores no longer sell low alcohol (≤ 7.5 %) beverages so now in grocery stores you are starting to see (at least according to the packaging) whisky and vodka based drinks as long as they are below the limit. The malt flavored beverages are still there of course, but now things that contain spirits (as defined by VA) are allowed and present. That explains the Whisky and Cola I saw at the store: ( link)
