Calvary is where Jesus of Nazareth was suppose to have been crucified and everyone would have known where it was if it existed. Secondly, and this is important for all of you Christians who advocate circumcision so that your baby can get into heaven, Jesus of Nazareth was NOT CIRCUMCISED. Cite? No problem. You can take up this debate with none-other-than <dut da da daaaa> Robert Sheaffer, himself. Read his book, "The Making of the Messiah." I do understand your shock. I'm shocked too. I'm shocked that there is no doubt that, based upon the evidence, Jesus of Nazareth did exist. Jesus is mentioned all over the place in rabbinical writings in the years following his death (Jesus is often referred to as that "son of a whore" in rabbinaical writings). And, I'm shocked by the various revelations about his life and what took place after his death.
However, I'm not a religious scholar. I'm not going to debate this since I only know what Robert Sheaffer has written. What's important for me is that Robert Sheaffer has left no doubt but that Jesus of Nazareth was not allowed to undergo ritualistic circumcision (he lucked out!). So, all Christians who think that they are making their children become like their god by circumcising them are simply mistaken. If they want their children to be like Jesus, then they should leave their children intact.
According to Robert Sheaffer, Friedrich Nietzsche was sympathetic to Jesus the man. I can see why that is now that I know more about Jesus. The poor guy was persecuted when he had done nothing wrong. Reminds me of Robert Downey, Jr. Neither one of them could go about minding their own business without having their respective governments persecute them. Robert Sheaffer always makes me think.
Jesus’ crime was being born to a “fallen woman.” Mary, apparently, didn’t do anything wrong either. She was forced to give birth to Jesus in a stable because she had nowhere to live for some sorted, unjustified reason. Robert Sheaffer studied everything that is available including the forbidden stuff. "The Making of the Messiah" is filled with citations for you to look up if you wish. Ask David B. if Robert Sheaffer is not a man with an impeccable reputation for honesty and objectivity. Robert Sheaffer does not necessarily attack religious people in his book. At the end of his book, he discusses at length his mixed feelings about how religion seems to have helped a great many people to become honest successes. "The Making of the Messiah" is as close to the truth as anyone has ever come in the modern world to understanding Jesus.
