Jack Daniel's Hard Cola

I’m a bourbon man, so I usually don’t drink Jack Daniels.
But today at the grocery store they were selling “Jack Daniel’s Hard Cola” for $1 a bottle, so I bought one.

I’m drinking it as I type this.

Have you had this stuff? It’s a malt beverage, so there really isn’t any actual whiskey in it.

It’s real thick, and syrupy.

If they were going for the “whiskey & coke” taste, I say they failed. It has an icky, artificial taste to it.

I don’t really like it, but I will finish this single bottle.

I wonder if there’s caffeine in this?

That shit be whack.

I bought a 6-pack of it, because it sounded good- whiskey and coke. Ogodit’sawful. I drank half a bottle of it, the rest is sitting in my fridge waiting to get thrown out.

Someone said this was the most wrongly named beverage ever, since it didn’t have JD or cola in it.

I think it’s really just a marketing ploy. JD can’t advertise on TV, but JD Hard Cola can.

I think they can. Don’t you remember all the fuss a while ago about networks airing hard liquor commercials.

You’re telling me they screwed up COLA flavor? Fer chrissakes, you can just buy cola syrup add some malt liquor and bubbles, and you’re there, right???

I like the Iced Teas and Lemonaids because they taste pretty much like the regular beverage. I thought a cola based item would be pretty good… guess not.

Hard liquors can legally advertise on TV, but most stations still don’t allow it. This is an easy way to get around their reluctance.

I do not find it to bad all in all. Not as good as adding vodka to coke but is alright all in all.

I tried that drink, GROSS. I`ll stick to me smirnoff ice.

HAHA you got taken by the MAN.

may be a dumb question, but why can’t someone just bottle up whiskey and cola? JD seems to be running a risk, if this stuff is as bad as people here think, of smearing its own good name.

Heyduke–you’re right. It wasn’t codified like the cigarette ban but was more of a gentleman’s agreement IIRC. And even then, they only advertised very late at night once they started.
