"Jackass" Q: Volume 1 DVD?

For fans of the show, there are DVDs that contain highlights from the individual MTV episodes. These DVDs are “Jackass Volume 2” and “Jackass Volume 3.”

Depending on what you Google, Volume One was either A) “held indefinitely” by MTV due to content, or B) a big stupid gag by the boys to get people asking this very question.

Now, option #1 seems stupid, but unlikely – why would MTV withhold ANY of the Jackass material, seeing as it would sell very well? However, option #2 doesn’t seem much better – it’s a pretty stupid joke, if so, and might actually result in fewer sales, if people “hold out” and refuse to buy #2 and #3 until they can find the unavailable Volume One.

So what’s the true story? Anybody know why there’s no Volume One?

I’ve heard the latter, that they just wanted to screw with people. And coming from the Jackass guys, it isn’t terribly surprising.

(Also, I would hope people don’t think they have to watch “The Best of Jackass” chronologically in order to fully understand and enjoy it.)

I suppose character development means nothing to you?

Hmpf.

I thought I had heard it was being held because of some lawsuit over one of the episodes, though I can’t remember any more of the supposed details, and I don’t know if that rumor makes any more sense than the other rumors.
