Huh, I didn’t realize that was his response to me in the other thread until you quoted it here. He really does seem absolutely determined to not answer any questions he doesn’t like, no matter how reasonable. What exactly does he want from the gym? Does he really believe that every single machine that he wants must be made available to him? Does he really not see the potential danger in doing unapproved exercises on machines not designed for them?
These are reasonable things to wonder. But if you ask them you get the same response I gave to my Dad when he asked about school when I was 14. accompanied by heavy sighing and “god, don’t you know anything?”. He may as well stomp off to his room and slam the door and put on tragically loud Metallica music.
It never worked for me as an argument technique when I was a teenager and by about 16 I grew out of trying. I don’t know why he’s clinging to it, but even more so I don’t know why he brings up topics here that he clearly doesn’t want to actually discuss, and then acts like it’s totally unreasonable when anyone posts something other than “wow, good job! You’re a genius!”.
