You’re like those people who always complain that nobody else knows how to communicate…nobody they have ever met can remember anything they tell them, everybody misunderstands what they say. Maybe you can’t communicate as well as you think?
Jamie, if almost everyone here is interpreting your posts the same way, and drawing the same conclusions about your probable motivations, then perhaps they are right and you are wrong, or perhaps you have done a terrible job of communicating your position? 
The funny thing is, there was a link somewhere in this thread (I think it was this thread) to a radio show he was on. I listened to some bits and pieces of it (it was ungodly dull) and he came off as a nice polite person..but the single comment under the clip basically said the same thing everyone here is saying.
The other thing that I thought was odd was the the host made an interesting observation, she mentioned that if the only two incidents at the health club were the pull ups and the parking lot and he got kicked out, something else was going on. She seemed to be implying that for some reason the health club wanted to get rid of him and was using the parking lot incident as a reason to do it. And this is from a person that, to the best of my knowledge knows nothing more about him that what was aired on that show and probably a three sentence bio that she read the week before.

Regardless, the doctors made a huge mistake. He had a right to sue. He didn’t deserve to be paralyzed because he had a few beers when he was 20 and made the mistake of driving.

I’m not weighing in on whether or not the doctors made a mistake, but I don’t think he is fully absolved of any responsibility in the matter either. If he were drinking and driving under age and hit and injured or killed a toddler, who would be at fault? Well, instead of hitting a toddler he nearly killed himself.
Sure we all make mistakes and no one anticipates huge consequences for doing something that seems minor at the time but sometimes we take a gamble and we lose. Such is life.
O, it was all just a mistake. I’m sorry I drank underage and crashed a car with my friend in the passenger seat and almost killed myself, it was all just a misunderstanding, it wasn’t a deliberate choice to do something selfish, dangerous and illegal, and it is somebody else’s fault I have to live with the consequences. Why, I oughta sue the guy that saved me, that’ll teach him with his fancy medical degree.

What if you crash into a tree because you’ve been drinking and driving and I come along, pull you out of the car, then curb stomp your nuts? Would your drinking and driving be to blame for your smashed genitalia?
As far as I know, his being paralyzed isn’t a disability caused by any injury sustained from the crash. It was because a doctor fucked up. I mean, I want to keep pissing on Jamie, but let’s piss on him for the right reasons.
I suppose it would depend on whether or not curb-stomping my goolies was a life-saving treatment.

I conferred with the panel and the answer is yes. He’s allowed to close his mouth when being pissed on for such a reason, however.
Edit: Know what? After giving it more thought… I’m not sure where I stand on the issue that Jack raises. You may take short pisses on him until I’ve reached a verdict.
This is really unfair. jamiemcgarry has contributed a lot to the SDMB. Without him, many people would not know about the ignore list.
