Jan 6 Hearings Follow-Along & Commentary Thread (Starts Jun 9, 2022)

Now, this is definitely Fox News.

Wouldn’t you? I sure would.

Now discussing Trump’s attempts at recording a speech in the Rose Garden and showing outtakes. Eventually he went “off the cuff.”

Off-the-cuff remarks for the video in the Rose Garden. Trump chose not to follow the script.

Why outside at the Rose Garden if Antifa was taking over the Capitol?

Showing new video of Pence’s staff describing him (Pence) ordering the military in to help.

Well, he was gonna hide in the basement of Comet Pizza but couldn’t find it.

Ms. Matthews was describing her reaction to Trump’s tweets and sounded genuinely unhappy. Maybe just to lose her job, but maybe not.

This is random, but I find it fascinating that the press briefing room has a camera that is “hot” all the time, and is just down the hall from the Oval Office.

Basically, the president can address the nation whenever they want. (2 am; “I can’t sleep. Lots of shit on my mind…”)

It provides an interesting perspective on the “need” for a president to be able to access social media like Twitter.

I’m not sure what ‘hot’ means. The feed is going out but do the various networks have someone in a control room monitoring it in case the President shows up at 3am in his bathrobe?

Solid

Wow, Eugene Scalia sounds like his dad did!

I’d guess there’s someone on the midnight shift in the press room? But news that the President wants to talk would get someone down there ASAP anyway.

“Giuliani and the rest of the clown car …” Classic!

Someone had a lot of fun writing this up.

I’d suspect that it means that everything is set up, turned on, probably staffed, and ready to transmit a briefing or statement to the networks, when and if needed.

Beats my, “President’s team of crack lawyers.”

I’ve worked with network broadcasters - for some applications, there’s a camera 24/7 being recorded to a server so if anything happens, nobody presses ‘record’ because they already have the footage. Applications might be sports, government podiums, anything. Think of it as a (nearly infinite capability) camera DVR focused at whatever might become interesting unexpectedly.

I really dislike Matthew Pottinger. As in he provokes in me an actual physical revulsion.

Networks? We’re living in the future, my friend. Apparently he can just livestream.
