Is it just me, or does it seem like Kinzinger’s expression is like someone about to give the punchline to a joke?
I think that’s just his natural expression. He tends to grin a little inappropriately when he’s feeling stressed.

Phew! These outtakes. More adjusting his prepared speech, “I don’t want to say that, change it.”

Recall that he was a Trump toady for 99% of the administration. Your spidey sense is tingling for good reason.
I know, I know. I was using it as a throwback because language hasn’t kept pace with technology like ‘filming’ an event or ‘dialing’ a phone number.

These are not the people on trial here, so it probably wouldn’t be appropriate, but I really wish that at every key point in Trump’s insurrection against the country, they asked, “Were you actually surprised by Trump’s action here?”

In this context it’s a permanent, always-live feed to the networks. No need to set up special lines or throw switches.
In ye olde days of TV, cameras literally needed to warm up before they could broadcast. That’s why none of the TV networks were able to go live for 15-20 minutes after news broke of the John F. Kennedy assassination. To keep a camera hot all the time meant a huge cost in replacing burned out tubes (and studio lights.)
I saw an article saying that Melania claims she wasnt aware there was any violence. She was busy with other things.
