Jan 6 Hearings Follow-Along & Commentary Thread (Starts Jun 9, 2022)

I am sure he will do the whole Roger Stone 5th Amendment thing. Or, he could be goaded into a “You can’t handle the truth!!” moment.

The subpoena would expire with the upcoming midterm election.

With the seating of a new Congress, sure.

Or plead the fifth over and over – You know, a tactic he said only the guilty employ.

Pretty clear they are going after Trump. About time.

There were several stories during Trump’s first impeachment, where his lawyers made it clear they didn’t want him to ever testify, because he simply wouldn’t be able to stop himself from lying. Even getting him to just take the 5th over an over again would be difficult. Anyone who likes the sound of his own voice as much as Trump does is probably incapable of not blabbing everything.

Well, first the vote has to pass, but at this point, I’m pretty sure that will happen. But yes, he will take the 5th; or explode in a Colonel Jessup moment.

Talking heads on CNN: Trump probably will not comply, and the subopena will likely not be enforced. Although it could be; panel members are not 100% sure.

HE will not comply with a subpoena.

one thing congress needs to have some firmer rules on what happens if someone doesn’t show up after a subpoena. get a holding area up and running in the bowels of the building and the authority to go and get people who defy subpoenas.

committee returns, gavel down.

Reconvening. Rep. Aguilar speaking. Looks like the topic will be about Trump wanting/trying to get to the Capitol.

Some new footage of what Congressional leadership was doing from their safe location, trying to get help to quell the attack (Pelosi, Schurmer, Hoyer, Scalise, McConnell) during the insurrection. Pretty dramatic stuff.

It certainly is gripping. Were they at or in a safe location in the Capitol building, or were they offsite?

I don’t think they want to reveal the exact location of where their safe space is. Unknown at this point, at least by me. But perhaps I missed something.

Thanks. Not revealing the location makes sense.

It’s almost touching to think there was a time that Republican congressional leadership once had a spine.

… for about 3 minutes.

Interesting about how concerned the people at Twitter were.

Raskin quoting Trump: Remember this day [1/6] forever.

We will. Boy howdy will we ever.

Thompson about to announce the vote for the Trump subpoena.

Boo ya!
