I wonder if it is starting to sink in for Trump fans that if every single person around Trump ends up betraying him maybe he has something to do with this problem? Also, if the Deep State is that pervasive, isn’t he kind of screwed no matter what? So not only did Biden steal the election, he also somehow mind controlled all of Trump’s “best” people to turn them into traitors too. Not the kind of opponent I’d want to fight, I tell you what.
In any case, the committee certainly foresaw that Trump was going to go with some variant of “I don’t even know who that is” and they were nice and thorough with the diagrams and pictures and videos showing that Hutchinson was right in the thick of it all. Absurd that they have to go so far to establish that basic fact but then again Trump and his legal team are the types that would deny that a White House meeting took place by denying that the White House was an actual place.
Interesting note from this article: During the Trump->Biden transition, some Secret Service agents who were thought to be a little too trumpist were removed from Biden’s bodyguard team. One of those was Tony Ornato.

Every time this gets mentioned I keep picturing that Hitler goes nuts in the bunker, German movie scene that has been used to express outrage at other, smaller issues. It just perfectly seems to illustrate the link between the two men- identical level of leadership.

He gave just enough information to keep the Committee looking and digging, enough to bury Trump, but without having to be involved personally. Perhaps I am mistaken, but didn’t a great deal of the Committee’s information come from those texts and e-mails?
I am against objectifying any woman for any reason at any time! That being said, I stand second to none in my admiration for this young woman who has great character, the heart of a hero, the dedication of a patriot, the poise of a . . . . [something VERY dignified- a regent? an angel? a hero under fire], and even at her young age - bravery and clarity in a very humble and human form. Plus, let’s face it- hubba, hubba; she is as delightful as she is composed and brave! I suppose it is alright if you also admire her Locrian, but let it be understood that she is to be treasured and respected and admired under all circumstances!
I certainly hope she has a thing for overweight, semi-literate, diminutive, post-middle aged men with little power or money- because if she does . . . well, I might be just the guy for her! (Hey, it could theoretically happen, in sitcoms young beautiful women are with fat, old, dumb guys all the time!)
I recommend you watch some Jordan Klepper videos. There are years worth of them (one specifically addressing the January 6th Hearings) and the genuine Trump supports are amazing to view in their natural habitat. “Are you sure that is Bill Barr?” “That doesn’t even look like Ivanka, how do I know that isn’t a clone of her saying this stuff?”

I don’t say that derisively. I have a young daughter. A kindergarten teacher needs to have the patience of a saint, the stoicism of a London Palace Guard, and the gentle calmness of a hostage negotiator. It’s a demeanor that’s really hard to master and it’s almost magical to watch.

I don’t understand the adoration for Cassidy Hutchinson.
Hutchinson was a top aide to Trump’s chief of staff.
She was “disgusted” with Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021. But every single day before then, she spent her time and talents trying to burnish his reputation.
“As a staffer that worked to always represent the administration to the best of my ability and to showcase the good things that he had done for the country…”
She was complicit.
I was going to mention this. She is an uncommon MAGA, but she is still a MAGA, complete with contempt towards the poor, minorities, etc, and who worked for such policies as the tax cuts.
Another question: the woman is 25. She was 22, 23 when this occurred. Isn’t that a bit… young… for her title?

You can criticize her for a lot. She worked for Steve Scalise and Ted Cruz before joining with Trump. She was like one of the Minions (from the films) seeking out villains to serve.
But she doesn’t seem complicit in the Jan. 6 plot at all. I don’t see anything to suggest she was.
Complicit in working for Trump, sure. But you can’t pin this on her. That’s ridiculous.

She’s young. Maybe seeing what she saw woke her up and she realized which side she was on. She suggests as much in her testimony, calling it unpatriotic and un-American.

But if a kidnapper took your child- then returned the child just because he or she developed a sense of duty and propriety - - would you tell them to no, keep the kid because I ain’t paying???
I was almost apolitical at her age- I didn’t know shit! I can be a bit forgiving if she played for the wrong team for a little bit. Hell, in less than a decade I went from being a Ruby Red Republican to a quite progressive soul. I would not want to judge you by your worst moment, nor would I want you to judge me by mine. People can and do change.
The point of my post, was that while protesting loudly that it wrong to objectify a woman- I WAS largely noticing that she is attractive among her other fine qualities. I do believe she also showed a good deal of composure and I am sure she knows better than any of us how dangerous it can be to have Trump pissed off at you, yet she saw this through. Without meaning anything offensive or accusing anyone of anything-- I will say that it took move bravery and composure to testify against her boss than it takes to post on a message board. By that measure she surpasses both me and you - that is unless your day was much more exciting than mine was.
I am not giving her a pass for mistakes made in the past, but I sure as hell am going to acknowledge any step in the right (in this case- left) direction! She is less than half my age and today she very likely accomplished more than I ever have-- and possibly more than anyone else has done to end the influence of Trump. Please, get back to me when you impact a Congressional Committee and aide in the toppling of the free world’s (and how lucky are we that we still have SOME freedoms?) former most powerful man.
Yes, I get what you are saying. Part of it is the contradictions; she must have been something of a wallflower in that place full of out-sized egos — yet, she is the one who found the fortitude to stand up. She can be meek and humble when that is called for and a determined if not quite fierce warrior when THAT is what is required.
And this isn’t just about today!! For the rest of her life she has to live with the fact that she has some VERY, VERY dangerous enemies; enemies who have zero scruples and zero empathy.
I will repeat that just today she accomplished a great thing (not your daughter’s teacher, Ms. Hutchinson) and whatever she may have done in the past is easily forgivable in my opinion. Besides that, I am pretty damn sure she will not be welcomed back into the MAGA world and she damn well knew it before she agreed to testify. I want to thank you Chad_Sudan, I admire her even more now that I have thought about it.
