Jan 6 Hearings Follow-Along & Commentary Thread (Starts Jun 9, 2022)

Which I believe hits the “waging war against the United States” threshold necessary for Treason charges.

Van Tatenhove: “We’ve been extremely lucky” that more blood has not been shed already.

Van Tatenhove has been a very effective witness, perhaps more so even due to his less than conventional appearance.

It sounds to me as if the Oath Keepers are looking for any excuse to bust heads, shoot people, and blow stuff up, if I’m understanding Mr. Van Tatenhove correctly.

You guys are finding these yahoos persuasive of something? “Uh - we were a bunch of dolts!” Even Ayres says he now feels “Not so much” that the election was stolen. And t-shirt boy is just spouting his personal conclusions.

I guess I don’t understand the evidentiary value - just to prove that people were stupid enough to believe social media? Does anyone really doubt that?

What has not been mentioned is that Stewart Rhodes once lived in Van Tatenhove’s basement for a stretch. I’m sure he aspired to do whatever it took to rise from his circumstances. So to speak.

I think it’s meant to demonstrate Trump’s very strong influence on these supporters. So that Trump’s actions directly and predictably caused violence and lawbreaking.

Ayers again: “Take the blinders off and take a step back and see what’s happening.”

Again, I think the audience for these guys might be others in Trump’s cult. Having someone polished and eloquent may actually be less persuasive than someone who’s stuttering and not especially perceptive.

Mr. Ayres: “I had horse blinders on, I was blocked the whole time.”

Mr. Ayres has discovered Donnie Two-scoops has the Merde-as Touch.

Oh man. The call-out to the permanently injured cop.

Which is frightening

Parscale’s mostly a grifter, actually, he made millions off Trump’s campaign.

And, regarding the ex-Oathkeepers………face tattoos are forever, dude.

And if you noticed, Officer Fanone (who was also injured in the riot) was two seats to Sgt. Ganone’s left.

Have you discussed this before - the chair’s reference to the “young women” on the panel?

Kinda strikes my ear as jarring.

it his accent. he is saying gentle woman. gentle gets a bit slide-y in southern.

A Southerner of a certain age. Like Ayres’ "you-know"s I’m willing to see it as a verbal tic.

Cheney accuses Trump of witness tampering at the close.

Does he ever quit?

Ms. Cheney could host a reality show: “Tune in next week. Here’s a preview.” But a very effective closing remark, nonetheless.
