Press release doesn’t even specify if he was arrested on the scene or not. Probably, I guess. But kinda surprised the cops didn’t put 17,893 rounds into the house.
About an hour later, at approximately 9:38 p.m., Mr. Pelham – a previously convicted felon – walked onto the porch and allegedly fired towards several deputies, who could be heard on body-worn camera video noting bullets “whiz” by them. A deputy instructed Mr. Pelham to put his gun down, but he continued to waive it until re-entering his home. At 10:46 p.m., Mr. Pelham again exited the residence and fired multiple rounds.
Law enforcement departed at 12:21 a.m. without any injuries.
How does one notice a bullet whizzing by? I don’t think you could hear it after the noise of the gunshot. And if you can see a bullet going by, your eye sight is much better than mine.
As has already been said, this would have gone very differently if a (brown) suspect was wanted for trespassing at the local pool. < blam blam blam > “ummm. I was… afraid for my life! Ya, that’s it.”
If the shooter is far enough away that the sound of the gun going off is not concurrent with the bullet going by you can definately hear it. It sounds like a very angry, very fast bee.
I’ve never been shot at, but I think that it depends on whether the bullet is subsonic or supersonic. A supersonic bullet probably would sound like a whip cracking (which is, after all, also supersonic), but a subsonic bullet might make a more buzzing sound.
