Home invasion in Texas

Wow. An armed homeowner saw off 5 attackers, killing three and wounding two.

That’s some good shooting.

The Fox News comments seem to think this is drug/gang related. Is that your thought as well?

Sounds like the homeowner was ready for just such an attack. To accurately shoot 5 people requires alot of skill.

The article says that the homeowner fired “dozens of shots”. That doesn’t suggest a great deal of skill.

Typo, or is there a use of “saw off” I should know?

All I can think of is NWA:
*
“When I’m called off
I got a sawed-off
Squeeze the trigger and
bodies are hauled off”*

Really???

To “see someone off” is such a ridiculously common expression I can’t even grasp what your problem is here.

To see someone off. Joe saw Jane off at the station. Let me put on a coat and I’ll see you off.

5 armed intruders against one unsuspecting homeowners is such ridiculously poor odds, he’s either the luckiest innocent in the world or, as you say, he was expecting this.

This story says he had an AK-47.

I’m confident this will get counted among “mass shootings”.

I would not argue against you.

Well, it made me pause too. I associate “saw off” with some sort of friendly parting of ways.

“fought off”, "fended off " but that wording sounds like he kissed them goodbye as well as shot them dead.

This link isn’t working.

I’ve read “saw off” in describing the results of sports contests as well. For example, something like ‘the Patriots saw off the Chiefs’. Nothing particularly friendly about that.

Does the AK-47 in that file photo have a bump stock?

FOR OVER 30 YEARS, DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS HAS CHANNELED TEXAS-SIZED STATE PRIDE TO REMIND TEXANS TO KEEP TRASH OFF OUR ROADS.

The slogan also applies to dirtbag home invaders.

In Texas, that’s a good shoot all day, every day. Flaco is going to walk, even though I have no difficulty imagining he might not be a saint himself.

One of the few times a Hispanic gang member will be described in conservative media as a “homeowner.” Gotta love it.

Yep, gotta push the narrative.
