Jason Priestley is *how* short?

I’ve met him and he’s definitely shorter than me (I’m 6’2) but he’s a good bit taller than 5’. 5’7 seems about right.

Mighty nice guy, as well…or at least that’s my experience.

Schwarzenegger is only short when compared to his “Austrian Oak” screen persona. You expect him to be almost seven feet tall and when you hear he’s only six feet you think, how short!

I realize this is a really old post, but just in case anyone is still interested, I saw Jason last night at a hockey game. He was about 3 feet away from me. I am 5’6 1/2. He is not even close. He would probably come up to my chin or lips if he was right beside me. I was shocked. I know they are all usually shorter than they say, but he is quite short

Seems like a genuinely, really nice guy

This says that he’s 5’8":

I walked right by him – at a hockey game! — years ago. He seemed just a smidge taller than me, and I’m (or was) 5’ 4".

No idea about Jason Priestley, but I remember posting about somebody else whose height I looked up. On the first page of Google I found over a dozen different heights.

Those celebrity measurements pages have the authority of pronouncements by flat earthers.

Here, you can see just how tall Arnold is(n’t).

The “celeb heights” site is usually pretty good. They tend to have many pics and comparisons to other celebs who at some point have a verified measured height on record. Sometimes this comes down to trusting someone else you have no reason to fully trust, but most pro athletes have official combine measurements (NBA does with and without shoes) and such. In my experience, there is a lot of “heightening” with men. The average man is around 5’9 but says at least 5’10-6. My doctor measured me officially at 5’11.5 (I have begun the middle age decline), but every single man I see irl who claims 6’-6’2 is my height or shorter. Most women describe me as a “big, tall guy” and when they ask my height they tell me I should say at least 6’ and not give the truth. I bring all this up also re: Arnold. I think he went by 6’2 or whatever at his peak, but he was probably closer to 6’ max. All the other BBers were 5’4-5’10 and adding 2 inches and he was the tallest (other than Lou) of the era.

Also, fwiw (and another unsourced/unverified claim), Jason Priestly is known to be short in height but he always makes the rounds on all the lists of the supposed “longest” in Hwood.

In this picture Arnold looks about 5 feet tall…

Last time I saw Jason Priestley he did a little hello on the Joel McHale show, and came up to Joel’s biceps.

Here’s Priestley and McHale on a show. McHale is 6’4". It certainly looks like Priestley’s about 5’8". In any case, no television show has ever cast someone as a male romantic lead on a television show who’s 5’ tall. As an older character who never becomes involved with any of the females on the show, perhaps, but never as a romantic lead. They would always constantly make a point of how short he was. Tom Cruise is 5’7", and there are frequent mentions in the media of (what they consider) the strange fact that he was shorter than his wife Katie Holmes.

Look at 0:54 in the video.

The average adult American male is 5’ 9.5" and the average adult American female is 5’ 4.1".

Who says this and exactly how and when did they do the measurements?

That was the numbers that I read years ago and memorized. I just now checked a bunch of websites for the numbers. There is some disagreement about this. What numbers do you think are correct?

None.

Some may be approximately correct, but how would we know? Tell me the source of the numbers and what the margin of error is and allow me to make a determination of whether to believe them.

Notice that none of these averages give error bars. You’d think that would be absolutely basic to a scientific claim.

To be fair, he’s standing next to two men who were both over 7 feet tall: Wilt Chamberain (7’1"), and Andre the Giant (7’4").

Andre the Giant was billed as 7’4" but he was never actually over 7 feet tall. This picture actually proves it.

Vince McMahon always advised Andre NOT have to pictures like that (of Andre standing next to basketball players) taken because they would expose the legend of Andre been over seven feet tall.

Even if so, it’s still two guys in the 7 foot range (give or take an inch or so), both of them thus something close to a foot taller than Arnold.
