My wife got this clip in email yesterday and I really like it:
Ordinarius - Disseram que voltei americanizada
Their harmonies and swinging style made me thing of these:
Swingle Singers - All the things you are
Double Six - A Night In Tunisia
rare silk (I can recall) Spain
"Route 66" - The Manhattan Transfer (2008)
South American Getaway
written and arranged by Burt Bacharach
Vocals by the Ron Hicklin Singers
Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid (1969 Film) [Soundtrack]
If this sort of thing is in your realm of music appreciation, please add some links to the thread.
The soundtrack for “Butch Cassidy…”, though a complete anachronism, fits like a surgical glove–It’s kickin’ ass and takin’ names, baby! (Same deal with “The Sting”, not that anyone asked.)
Manhattan Transfer is just scary they’re so good; must be aliens.
Don’t know about “jazzy” per se, but have you ever checked out the Boswell Sisters? Super tight harmonies, and easy on the ears if you’re ever in the mood for stuff from the early days.
Out on sight! Y’all have sure added to my “jazzy vocal group” awareness. Keep ‘em comin’ and stretch the boundaries into Pop and Country or wherever if they’re really good. By way of heading down that trail, consider:
I love them, here’s a link to one of my favorites of theirs, “The Object of My Affection,” that showcases their light swinging style and their harmonizing.
On a more modern note is a group called The Ritz. I don’t know if they are still around, but here is a link to one of their numbers. They sound a lot like Manhattan Transfer, but I think they are good enough to stand on their own.
