The elegant riposte of a one armed d’Artagnan.
He’s afraid of being hit by a holy thunderbolt if he said any administration when presidents like FDR are in play. He hasn’t completely stepped into the Republican “no lie is too outrageous” bubble, but give him time. He’ll learn from the master.
Wish I could summon the ghost of Sister Marie Edwin and her yardstick to bet some sense into him.
As a (presumably) childless teacher, she’d be his worst nightmare!
Eh, she doesn’t feel like yelling back and giving him more fuel or being called “shrill” or somesuch. She knows quite well how things are, but why feed the beast?
n/m: Wrong thread.
A Gestalt therapy technique is to not take the emotional bait, which often causes the instigator to become louder and more polarized, and therefore to make a more obvious show of their pathology. It’s very useful to let a person emphatically show everyone who they are.
More of JD Vance being an absolute sexist prick.
Why is it that the people who are the loudest about calling themselves “pro-family” actually just seem to hate women?
It would seem that women are an unfortunate necessity. It was much better in the 19th century and before, when they were disposable.
He’s insulting all women and making fun of another woman, who was no doubt very nervous and had a bad answer to a stupid beauty pageant question.
So very manly and masculine and Christian too. Gosh, I’d swoon, but I’m too busy being sick to my stomach.
If you’re not familiar, the still is from a rather infamous clip where Miss SC was asked about schoolchildren not being able to find some country or other (Iraq, I think?) on a map, to which she responded with a confused ramble about “the loss of maps” that didn’t answer the question or make much sense at all.
It was viral around 2007 or so, IIRC. So he’s digging up a nearly-20-year-old video of probably the most embarrassing moment in that woman’s life to try and insinuate that Harris is stupid.
What a charmer.
She’s a fucking reporter.
She could have just told us what the prick said without adding her asinine opinion.
Vance is “Catholic” in the same way Milo Yiannopolis is. He’s faking it because he was told he couldn’t get elected as a Republican while being openly atheist.
Therefore his wife is equally stupid. After all, female.
Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what he tells his buddies when she’s not around. For as much as he talks about the importance of family he really doesn’t seem to actually like women and kids. I get the impression that his anger towards childless adults is rooted in a sentiment of “If I have to suffer then so should everyone else”.
Yes, he’s got some real serious dislike for women.
Here’s the kicker. After the pageant fiasco, Miss SC was signed to a modeling agency…owned by Donald Trump. That’s her between Trump and Jr.
And even more ironic, the “Is Trump confused?” thread has examples of Trump saying many things as bad if not worse than her answer.
I wouldn’t make “which candidate babbles the most nonsense” a focus of the campaign if I were the Republicans.
It’s like Vance is lobbing softballs for the left to knock out of the park with his pitiful comments.
Rex Harrison supposedly once said to Alan Lerner, the author of My Fair Lady; “Wouldn’t it be marvelous if we were homosexuals?”, grieving about their checkered love lives with women by suggesting that if only they could date men instead things would be so much easier.
I get that sort of vibe from Vance - not that he’s gay, but that he feels like life would be easier if he were because he wouldn’t have to deal with women.
