JD Vance Discussion Thread

Damn! After reading your fine post, I’m convinced. Seems pretty damn obvious when you see it all spelled out.

I wonder if this theory will get the traction that the couch story did?

Especially when you add in the Peter Thiel connection.

I don’t get a “closet case” vibe from Vance the same way I do with, say, Lindsay Graham or Mike Johnson or Michelle Bachmann’s husband. (Remember when she was the most batshit Republican in office? Good times.)

He just strikes me as your average mysogynist who got married because he felt like he was expected to and resents single and childless people because he wishes he could have the life he imagines that they do.

Marcus?? You think Marcus might be gay?

You’re probably right.

He describes in his autobiography that he thought he was gay as a youth.

So, probably he is gay, but in denial and struggling to convince himself that he is straight.

Sounds like a shape-shifting lizard-person shedding one skin to reveal a different one underneath.

My impression of him is that he did poorly with the ladies when they weren’t drunk at a frat party (maybe because he was dressed up as a blonde woman), and Usha was the first woman who paid him the time of day. He probably told himself that they rejected him because they were future childless cat women.

I think Vance will be whatever he thinks is the most advantageous thing for him to be in whatever his current circumstances are.

Bingo. If Vance thought he could get money and/or votes by becoming a furry, he’d start showing up for rallies in a fursuit and declaring that JD stands for Jaguar Daddy.

Couchboy asserts that you cannot be a good person unless you have children.

Couchboy has children.

How to resolve thing conundrum …

I read his book. In it he details all the things he said/did to appeal to the procession of men in his mother’s life, to get them to like him. It was pathetic and sad.

Now that he’s a grown-ass adult, he’s managed to slither his way onto the national stage, and now that same tendency is dangerous - for us. He’ll say or do whatever his orange master wants, because he has no real moral compass of his own. I hope we don’t get a chance to see what that looks like in 2025.

And now for something lighter - a classic Conan O’Brien sketch about a problematic 1930s crooner that sounds exactly like something Vance would say.

I keep getting vibes from him that say that even though he’s married and has children, he’s an Incel at heart.

I get the incel vibe, not the closeted/denying gay vibe.

Well, he’s got the beard for it.

His quote from a couple of weeks ago, about how he played the card game Magic: The Gathering in high school, but that (his quote) “15-year-old girls do not like Magic: The Gathering. So I dropped it like a bad habit” is consistent with that hypothesis.

He didn’t know the right girls.

Lucky for them.

There weren’t any girls at all at my high school who played M:tG.

Then again, there also weren’t any girls at my high school who didn’t play M:tG.

But seriously, there are probably a lot fewer girls who play football than Magic. And yet that doesn’t stop Vance-types from playing football.

Perhaps watching football attracts girls in a way that M:tG doesn’t? The ways of high school girls remains mysterious to me despite having been one and taught them.
